To eat...

...a tin of condensed milk that went out of date in may 2017.

Seems wrong when I could have caramel and stewed apple for my tea.

I’d eat it. Tinned stuff usually lasts pretty well. Open it and see if it looks ok

HoldingTheLineWinston · 29/04/2018 13:05

No, it's full of sugar, a preservative.

VimFuego101 · 29/04/2018 13:10

As long as the tin is intact I'd eat it. I'm pretty sure it would be good for another 10 years yet.

Silvertap · 29/04/2018 13:11

2 for and 1 against so far.

I know it's full of sugar! It's Sunday dinner pudding though - the odd treat is ok surely?!

Um, it wasn't a judgment on the sugar! I'm not one of those mumsnetters! I was just pointing out that the sugar is a preservative, ergo it will be fine to use and I would! Confused

TheDisreputableDog · 29/04/2018 13:15

Actually I think that's 3 for, I'd add mine too. So far is a preservative so is to stop h bags goi g off. It's a 'Best Before' date not a 'Use By' date.
Go for it.

MyotherUsernameisaPun · 29/04/2018 13:16

She's saying no you are not being unreasonable because the sugar will have preserved it, not that you shouldn't eat it.

Crispbutty · 29/04/2018 13:16

It will be fine to use as long as the tin is ok.

Yes, thank you both.

Silvertap · 29/04/2018 13:54

Sorry, completely misread- didn't mean to be an arse!

Caramel and apple for tea it is then x

No worries Flowers

Speaking as someone who ate a yoghurt that was 6 months out of date, I'd def eat the condensed milk.
The yoghurt was fine, btw, and I lived.
