AIBU to want a 2nd pushchair?

When I was pregnant I suffered horribly from hg and in a bit of hormonal, exhausted madness I ordered a pram on the internet without looking at any features or comparing with other brands or anything, I bought a cossatto giggle 2 because I liked the pattern - it cost about £700 including the infant carrier.

I’ve been using it for about a year now and it’s ok, but it’s not great. I keep looking at other people’s pushchairs with bigger baskets, hoods that come right down to keep the sun off the baby, off road wheels and that fold up much smaller.

I’ve only got a smallish car and we live quite rurally so something that folded up smaller would be ideal, I’ve been looking at the mountain buggy urban jungle or the mamas and papas armadillo sport, has anyone got either of these and is it worth buying a new one or should I just keep going with the cossatto?

@bigpinkball no car (at all, and we don’t live in London -going shopping is 1.5 hour roundtrip) and buggies and trains are not compatible! I only bought one new, the others were between £20 (maclaren and Quinny) and £120 (Mountainbuggy and babyjogger). We use the babyjogger weekly (running or cross country walks) the Bugaboo Bee daily, and the others occasionally (holiday/at parents/at inlaws).
We also have 2 kids.

're kicking the brake on. I am 5 5 with size 6 feet and always kick the brake on. It's a bad design for the position of brake pedal.

Which design have you got?

There is a group on fb for buying and selling cosattos

BigPinkBall · 28/04/2018 21:27

@Happygummibear it’s the golightly 2, I think it’s probably quite niche as it’s very girly so if you didn’t know the sex of the baby or you’re planning a 2nd child you’d probably avoid it.

Oh yes I know the one. It's a really nice design. We went with the all star as we didn't know what we were having but my dd often gets called a boy as people assume it's a boys pushchair (drives me mad)

There are so many different buggies out there for different things, I had a travel system and 2 other smaller ones for DS1 and then I bought a double when we had DS2. My DH thinks I'm mad but I don't care, I have pushchairs to suit most occasions and it makes my life easier! Life is too short.

Yes, buy another. I had one for city, one for country and one for travelling (BabyZen YoYo which is amazing).

We have the mountain buggy - it’s great in general, but it’s quite big and heavy when folded. So if you are looking for something smaller maybe look at getting an umbrella folding strolller - we have a Silver Cross Zest which we’ve been pleased with.

We traded in our icandy peach for a mountain buggy city mini gt because I was sick of how big it was and having to take it apart to fold it. So pleased we did so. The mini gt is really easy to use and fold and much smaller. We got several hundred for our peach online which covered the cost of the new one

Buy another! I've managed to end up with 5 pushchairs (some given by family who no longer need them) all useful for various different features and it means we can keep one in each car without having to move them about when we go out. I don't have any kind of terrain pushchairs so can't comment on the ones you are looking at but would say it is always useful to have more than 1. My advice would be to buy second hand then you can sell it on if you don't like it without financial loss.

We got the Bugaboo Buffalo when we had DS. I like it especially for the first year - starts as a pram and then converts to a buggy. Expecting DC2 soon and 3.5 years on it's still in great nick and have bought a backboard for DS.

However we also bought a Mountain buggy Nano when DS was about 10 months and have used it a lot too - sturdier than an umbrella stroller but great for travel, we have taken on lots of long haul holidays (it fits in the overhead locker in the plane). Definitely recommend as a 2nd option. We still use it a bit with DS if we're walking somewhere a bit further afield.

I have the giggle 2 also and bought an umbrella fold for when we go on holidays for the boot as the only downside I've found is that it's bulky for our car but I still love the pram, hate the buggy we got though

RomeoBunny · 29/04/2018 08:34

Get the Out n About Nipper. And the additional basket for it.

NellytheElephant18 · 29/04/2018 08:39

I vote baby jogger city mini. I’ve had Bugaboo Cameleon, Bee, Maclaren XT and the baby jogger was best by far!

TheChineseChicken · 29/04/2018 09:36

Just realised the city mini isn't mountain buggy

BigPinkBall · 29/04/2018 09:37

I’m glad other people are saying they’ve got more than 1 buggy, my DH seems to think it’s beyond extravagant to have more then 1, especially when he saw the price of the mountain buggy Blush
