And particularly awful ones at that?
Mine are terrible particularly the one I’m having at the moment. Stomach cramps so bad I’m vomiting, back and leg pain, and dizziness to the point I can’t get up.

What should I do? Is this normal?
I’ve not got a clue how to make this better, painkillers aren’t touching it and I just want to cry.

Sorry for the moan, I just wondered if anyone had any pearls of wisdom for coping.
Thanks

Go to the doctors

MrsLemonadeBrain · 28/04/2018 12:25

@ijustwannadance
Is it GP worthy? They are very stretched? X

GP definitely - it's their job!

Of course it is GP worthy! Hope you managed to see someone

My gynae is an endometriosis and fibroids specialist and he says it's a crime that so many women with very heavy and painful periods are fobbed off and told it's normal

Def see your GP. And push for a referral to a gynae

ijustwannadance · 28/04/2018 12:37

Yes, if you are suffering that much on a regular basis you should go and get it investigated.

ScreamingValenta · 28/04/2018 12:42

Your GP should refer you for investigation - it could be a gynae issue such as fibroids or endometriosis. In the short term, your GP should be able to prescribe stronger painkillers or anti-inflammatories.

Don't leave it be, OP. I suffered for years like that and wasn't diagnosed until I ended up in A&E.

ragged · 28/04/2018 12:45

GP can give you amazing painkillers & other options. Don't suffer with this.

TeatimeForTheSoul · 28/04/2018 12:50

Please go to GP and ask for a gynae referral (don’t get fobbed off with pill etc).
I believed family and GP that ‘some people just have this’ until I ticked all the boxes for something serious and urgent ultrasound referral. Luckily nothing really serious, but found huge fibroid. After they took it out periods were better and I felt fantastic!! More energy, lost weight, and managed first pregnancy Grin

Cheeseandapple · 28/04/2018 12:54

Definitely see a doctor as soon as you can and in the meantime be very sweet to yourself - stay in bed, under covers, lights out. Is there someone who can help look after you? I've never had them as bad as you describe but bad enough and you need to take care of yourself!

Queenoftheblitz · 28/04/2018 13:34

See a doctor. In the short term try solpadeine max in soluble form. They gave me my life back.

MrsLemonadeBrain · 28/04/2018 14:10

Thank so much all, I’ll call the surgery on Monday. I’ve just sent DP to boots for solpadine max - thanks

I’ve had solpadine and a 30 minutes nap. Certainly feeling more human thanks all.

Yes see gp. And don’t be fobbed of with just take the pill to cover it as it could be from a variety of conditions which aren’t going to be Health threatening but you may need to be aware of when considering having kids. Get a proper investigation.

notsohippychick · 28/04/2018 15:44

Hey lovely. I’ve kiterally just seen the GP for the same thing but along with those symptoms is crippling depression for the first week before my period.

Been diagnosed with Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder. An extreme version of PMT. I was the same in my pregnancy and had to be induced at 38 weeks as I was so poorly. My body doesn’t react well to the hormone progesterone!

TeatimeForTheSoul · 04/05/2018 21:07

MrsLemonadeBrain how did it go with GP?

MrsLemonadeBrain · 07/05/2018 07:49

Thank you all so much!! I hope you’re okay now hippy! I’ve not got a gp appt until Wednesday so it was considered routine but I’ll keep you posted

I have always suffered with periods but last year i came off the implant and started using the copper coil and they started being horrific.

I went to the GP a few months ago and she suspects endometriosis. Apparently i could've had it for a while but the hormone in the implant was helping 'control ' some of the symptoms which is why they have gotten worse when i changed to non hormonal birth control.

I am now awaiting the surgery to confirm endometriosis but have been given pain meds etc until then

TeatimeForTheSoul · 08/06/2018 12:09

How are you getting on OP?
