Highchair help desperate

Hey name changed for this

My one year daughter has developed a really weird habit of grinding against the highchair although anything seems to do as she rubs against the pushchair straps and soft toys. She used to have an Ikea chair but would full on rub against the plastic leg divider but, grabbing on to the tray to get more purchase and then just grind away with a glazed look and a bit of grunting. We got her a new chair but she's trying in that too.

It's so embarrassing. I know it's normal and not sexual really but it's hard to eat out with her as she does it in restaurant high chairs and people are starting to ask what she's doing!

I guess my aibu is am I being unreasonable in hoping one of you lot has a magical solution to stop her? Or any advice?!

I think she's so young that all you can do is try and distract her with something else when she does it. If you're out I'd probably pick her up and have her on my lap.

Could she possibly have thrush? My DNiece used to do this as a toddler.

My dd used to do this to the footstool. We didn't make a big deal of it, kept an eye out for redness and she grew out of it.

It's not thrush or an itch, it's a definite 'thing' she's doing
