Went to a spa day, had a lovely time but when we left we realised our swimwear had been bleached by one of the chemicals in either the pool or steam rooms.

I contacted the spa and they immediately offered to refund the cost of new swimwear, very good of them.

This is my issue, my replacement would be £80 ish, my friends would be £40ish. The spa day was £59 each.

My swimming costume is about 6 years old, but was a seafolly one I bought in the sale, it has worn really, really well and I love it. They still sell it, but only in black (mines grey) and it's £80.

What would you do?

Have you priced up a new costume you would actually want? They're so expensive these days. Take the offer

You sound lovely OP. Take the money. The full cost of replacement.

The spa day hasn’t really cost them anything. With the refunds they’re back to break even, as if you’d never been.

Yy to pps.

take the money.

have pools changed? they always used to wreck costumes (which is why it isnt worth spending much) and i would assume that the shared warm bath of a spa would need much more disinfectant.

I've never had a costume wrecked so obviously special. They do fade costumes over time but not to the extent this has- it's gone from charcoal grey to granny pants grey!

Are they happy to pay the full amount for the costume, or is there a limit on their refund? I didn't imagine there would be swimming costumes that cost that much- mine cost £15.99 and I thought that was expensive 🙈
If they are happy to refund the full cost for your costume, accept it. If they couldn't afford to, then they wouldn't have offered.

cat they didn't say a limit, just "if you provide receipts for replacement of the swimwear we will refund it"

cat I'm usually a Matalan girls, but I'd had a bit of a windfall and was off on a nice holiday, saw it in the sale and nabbed it!

Do you still have a receipt as you bought it six years ago?
Brilliant though- lovely to treat yourself to a bargain every now and again :)

I'd have a look what is out there and buy something for about £60' They're not saying they'll pay the cost of the original costume but the cost of a new one. You could take the mick and but one for 120 technically but I personally wouldn't
