To feel a bit fed up and just not want to do anymore work!

I'm just having a bit of a rant as I'm not feeling very well and just cannot be arsed at the moment!

We have a new starter at work. Since we are a very small team he is responsible for running things when I have my days off, then I run things when he is off and we have a few days working together when its busiest.

I'm just a bit frustrated because I come in after my days off and not only is the place a bit of a mess which means I need to clean and tidy up before I even start, but there are jobs which have either been left not done (and no note left to tell me they need doing) or have been done but to such a small extent that I have to redo them. This is in addition to all the extras things I have to do in preparation for the busy days.

I've also noticed that there are small, non essential things that have been done but there are glaring, essential things that haven't.

I'm going to have to work through my break to get everything ready (apart from a quick stop for coffee and mumsnet) and I'm just irritated because I feel like he's had a lovely stress free couple days sorting stuff out for himself but not bothering to make sure I have the stuff I need for when he isn't here! And now I'm knackered and stressed up to the eyeballs because I have had to do some of his work and mine Angry

It doesn't help that I've had issues with a supplier so I'm going to have to go out in my own time and get supplies that we need, making my day even longer.

Oops I forgot my AIBU!

Aibu to just be pissed off and want to have a nice, stress free day for once, like he had? If I don't bother to do the extra work I could have one but then I'll be shooting myself in the foot as I'll have to make it up tomorrow. FML.

I would start leaving lists
Most important things at the top and he works his way down.
Also get a handover note book so he has no excuse to not leave messages.
Yanbu to want someone to do their job properly.

I would have a word with him and give him a non formal warning then if he doesn't change a formal warning and then fire him if he still doesn't change. If you hired him to do the job and he doesn't do the job and stresses you out it will only get worse

I do make lists and we already have a handover book! The stuff that he deemed important (ie, the stuff relating to the non essential stuff he had done for himself) was there, but other vital stuff was not. In fairness, maybe he thought I would check all the essential stuff but there is so much I can't go through every single item or it would take me ages.

I guess I just want him to show a bit more initiative and do things without me having to specifially tell him it needs doing, and to also be mindful that it makes my life easier if he leaves me the stuff I need for when he isn't here.

I suspect there may be an element of him finding the essential stuff a bit boring and so can't be arsed , he makes an effort with the more interesting stuff.
