To be annoyed at DH?

So DH works for a well known carvery chain and last night brought a massive joint of beef home (that's the good part).
This morning I go to the fridge and the door isn't closed as the stupid beef is so big it was in the way, so the fridge has been open all night.

Obviously I express my anger at this as we jut got a tesco delivery two days ago and there were quite a few other things in the fridge which are now questionable.

The problem is he is always leaving the fridge or freezer or cupboard doors open and I'm telling him to be more careful, he just pushes it shut and walks away, never physically closes it.

All he had to say was "oh it didn't shut"
I told him that it wasn't the fridge that didn't shut it was him that didn't shut it, it's not the fridges fault.

Now he's gone back to bed in a sulk.

I mean the milk still feels cold but the butter is a but melty, do you think the stuff is ruined or not? AIBU to be so annoyed?

Its probably fine

EthelHornsby · 26/04/2018 10:49

I know it’s not an instant answer, but my fridge freezer beeps loudly at me if the door is not properly shut! And unless your kitchen is a furnace, butter does not need to be kept in the fridge

lizzlebizzle33 · 26/04/2018 10:53

Ah a beeping fridge is what we need! I'm not concerned about the butter I just mean if that's melted then how warm did the fridge get? The kitchen is far from a furnace, coldest room in the house.

I'm more concerned about bacon, sausages, a big cottage pie, ham, cooked chicken and of course, the beef!

nah they will be fine

GreenFingersWouldBeHandy · 26/04/2018 10:55

If they feel cold it should be fine. If in doubt, give them a sniff.

Smileallday · 26/04/2018 10:55

I think things will be fine in the fridge but I do find it quite disrespectful of you DH to not shut the fridge door. It sounds like it wasn’t a mistake and he actually knew it didn’t shut... surely he knows the door shou,d shut!

TuTru · 26/04/2018 10:56

Its prob fine xx

QuiteLikely5 · 26/04/2018 10:57

I think your food will be ok!

I love going to the carvery!!! Not helpful

Slapbetcommissioner · 26/04/2018 10:57

Did he maybe put the joint in the fridge warm and put it near the butter? Might account for it being a bit melty but the milk being cold?

I'd still eat everything in there but I'm a bit lax so that might not help you Grin

Yanbu to be annoyed though Wink

MereDintofPandiculation · 26/04/2018 10:58

The meat will be fine. Things don't go instantly off as soon as they get warm. That does seem quite a lot of meat to have in the fridge - have you thought of keeping stuff in the deepfreeze if you're not going to use it within the next couple of days?

Motoko · 26/04/2018 16:37

If in doubt, give them a sniff.

That will only tell you if the food is going off, it won't tell you if microbes like e. coli are multiplying, and it's those that cause food poisoning.

lizzlebizzle33 · 26/04/2018 20:12

Well we ate the beef...... Tasted fine. Hopefully we will still be alive tomorrow 👍🏻
