A move to Chichester?

I’ve seen a few old threads on here about relocating to Chichester so just wanted some updated info on quality of life and schools in Chichester. I was a bit put off by one thread saying the schools weren’t great and the locals were quite insular to people moving into the area and that it wasn’t great growing up as a teenager there. Any advice appreciated :)

It's just Chi - always has been and always will be. We locals never call it Chichester. It would just sound weird.

However I have learned something. I never realised Littlehampton was known as LA and I live closer to Littlehampton than I do to Chi.

Shock

I'd seen the abbreviation LA - and in fact, it's cropped up in my work quite recently ... but I just never joined the dots.

You sure do learn summat new every day on Mumsnet!

I grew up nearby and went to Chichester girls when it was still that. I hated it and couldn't get away quick enough! But I think If I was an adult who hadn't grown up there I would find it very charming and be happy there.

It's either known as Chi or Chidester (Pompey born and bred MIL). Lovely city and still has a few different shops although no Wilkos which I would like. It does have a Waitrose with 2 hours parking and a John Lewis.

I just asked my daughter if she knew Littlehampton was called LA and she said 'yeah course, everyone does .... Little 'Ampton.'
