Is it cheeky to take a jacket back (unworn) and rebuy it with a money off voucher?

I will go with the majority on this one. Be kind please...

when my dd worked at boots one christmas a customer returned all the items she had picked up in the boxing day sale which was a trolley full of the gift sets and then got the staff member to scan all the items she had just returned back through as it was the end of the boots sale and all the items were reduced further, apparently the manager served her and said there is nothing stopping them doing it

Loonoon · 25/04/2018 16:37

I've done it in Marks, I had to argue a bit but it happened.

StealthPolarBear · 25/04/2018 16:38

No it's the same jacket. Its price hasn't changed I just have a voucher now

My mum used to do this when I was younger. I suspect she still does it now.

It’s a bit cheeky but if you’ve got the front, go for it

SukiTheDog · 25/04/2018 16:39

Do it if the taking back/parking fee/time spent, makes the discount worthwhile. Absolutely!

FriendlyOcelot · 25/04/2018 16:41

Yes dd and I did it in Urban Outfitters. She’d just spent quite a lot of money and then realised she had a 20% off uni days on her phone. So we went straight back to the store and returned then rebought the clothes. We were very upfront, and very apologetic but the retail staff were absolutely lovely!

StealthPolarBear · 25/04/2018 16:41

Yeah I'm in the shop anyway. And tbh in the tome I've spent discussing it I could have learned to sew and made my own :o

I took some a jumper, cardigan and pair of flats back to Asda, due to being the wrong size. I kept the trousers and a tshirt.
They have me vouchers, for less than what I paid, as the items had gone into the sale. Is this wrong of them? The items were not worn.I
Sorry to hijack thread OP In your case, I wouldn't bother, not for a fiver.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 25/04/2018 16:43

Be upfront about it, in case they process the refund and want to take the jacket off you! I’m sure it won’t be a problem.

londonrach · 25/04/2018 17:00

Yes i would. M&s is very difficult though now so if there might not be worth it

Lacucuracha · 25/04/2018 17:05

MartagonLilies

Depends on whether you had a receipt as proof of the price you paid.

If you don't have a receipt the shop are being generous giving you any sort of refund to be honest.

StealthPolarBear · 25/04/2018 19:21

I did it, it was fine :)

Trust me, checkout staff do not care. I work in Boots and have done similar many many times. Often in the same transaction. It's no skin off my nose if someone saves a few quid or gets their extra points.

boomboom1234 · 25/04/2018 19:38

I've done something similar to this in the same transaction. Took shoes back to
Clarke's with receipt then bought them straight back as they had gone in the sale for £20 less!

RingtheBells · 25/04/2018 20:14

I imagine M&S is used to it as they often have 20% off weekends and sparks discounts. I did it at WhiteStuff when they had a 20% off weekend
