Work related Posting this for a friend who I met today Basically handed in her notice last week This place and last place she worked in she found very stressful. Fairly well paid job but most of the job is reliant on junior staff carrying out tasks In a nutshell lots of mistakes are made which could impact her and clients She has taken this up with person senior to her who is supportive, but nothing actually changes Seems to be from one problem to the next
Basically she is dreading going to wherever her next job will be as she feels it may be the same
The juniors seem to not be able to be sacked and although bosses seem to be supportive , as above nothing much changes
So she is really thinking of taking a different job pathway with less stress if she can if the next place is the same What would most people do?
Think maybe it’s not worth the stress if she can do a less well paid job and have less stress if possible?

Surely the job is to manage and train the junior staff better?

Yep people make mistakes especially at entry level. Her job is to TRAIN, supervise and support. To manage them - that's partly WHY she is paid more.

Depends on what she has already done to support. No point to keep moaning at staff if nothing changes; she needs to be prepared to show them how to do it properly, follow this up in writing with clear instructions, set SMART targets and have a timeline to see improvements by.

If she has done all this and still nothing changes, then taking things higher up is the next step.

But... and here is the 'may not BU' part: if she has done all this and management acknowledge the issue of non-compliance, but do nothing about it, i.e. there are no consequences for not doing the job, then she needs to find a new place with stronger managers higher up and make this a priority when applying for jobs.

Also, she isn’t their line manager and from what I gather, again when she has spoken to their line manager, they appear supportive but nothing changes . When she has tried to speak to the people making mistakes, their attitude isn’t the best and they are not receptive to change So she doesn’t know what the solution is

And this has happened with multiple people in two different jobs/work places? Is she sure it’s not actually her (her manner, unrealistic expectations etc) that’s the problem?
