Totally unhinged and worried too I think.

Another deplorable from the depths of the seemingly bottomless cess pit.

This is the man who will supervise Mueller if Trump fires Rosenstein

More of Trump's arse-wipes.

Trump’s GOP ‘warriors’ lead charge against Mueller
Trump has hailed a quartet of aggressive House Republicans who Democrats say are trying to 'sabotage' the Russia probe.
www.politico.com/story/2018/05/07/trump-mueller-republican-warriors-congress-571562

They have demanded thousands of documents central to special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation. They threaten to impeach Mueller's boss, who in turn accuses them of “extortion.” One has even likened the Russia probe to a possible “coup d’etat.”

President Donald Trump calls them his "warriors": a band of four House Republicans defending Trump with a relentless counterattack against the Justice Department’s Russia investigation that thrills the president even as it unsettles some House GOP colleagues who think they’re going too far.

So true and applies to all of us on this thread, it's all about how we react to what the Narcissist-in-Chief does !

One extra-marital affair, is the wife's business, several extra-marital affairs strongly suggest the person is not to be trusted at all.

It's kind of interesting that the lawyers mentioned saving Melania from embarrassment. I wonder if she is aware and just doesn't want it public.

cozietoesie · 07/05/2018 17:52

I'll confess that I had some weakness over the weekend. Not quite an attack of
'what'sthepointofconcernitis' but close enough. I'm OK now and back persisting but I have to underline the importance of regular breaks. It's going to be a long summer.

Roussette · 07/05/2018 18:05

Yes cozie totally agree. Just when you think it can't get any worse, it does, and I'm like WTAF

TheNorthWestPawsage · 07/05/2018 18:06

I feel it's one step forwards and two steps backwards most days! We met up with 2 of DH's extended family on Saturday (over from Berkeley, California). Father and son - ages 60 and 30 years - father still optimistic but very, very concerned. Son is very despondent for future and says he would consider leaving the US if Trump got another 4 years.
We last saw them probably about a year ago - then they were laughing about Trump - now not so much. Sad

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 07/05/2018 18:12

It's interesting, because I never feel as though I am persisting with Trump et al. Largely because other than read about the situation, I don't actually do anything to help! Definitely agree about needing breaks though - there's so much shite sprayed around that it's exhausting keeping track.

Speaking of which - Amy Siskind's weekly update:

Amy Siskind
@Amy_Siskind
Week 77 is the longest list with 170 not normal items.

This week, the morning after Giuliani’s bombshell disclosure, Trump signed an EO at the National Day of Prayer eliminating a boundary btw religious groups and gov’t.
See what you missed in the chaos!

Here a list of the rights and protections taken away - the norms broken - the kleptorcracy - the values compromised just last week while we were trying to keep track of which version of the Stormy Daniels payment was true.

Final note: Trump had a meeting with DHS Nielsen and all last week to discuss the status of our elections. We heard nothing. Which likely means it was an update to insure the midterms would not be fair.

We’re starting to see a turn in Trump’s rhetoric: “There is no obstruction. It’s called fighting back.” Because he actively tried to obstruct justice, he now tries to convince us it is not really a crime.

Trump has created so much chaos over the past few years.

Trump is using old KGB tactics of attacking the truth by attempting to create conditions that make it hard to tell the diff between fact and propaganda.

We need to pause for a minute and remember how dangerous this is

Trump is normalizing illegal activities that would have once outraged Americans and now we barely absorb it before moving on to the next outrage for an hour or so. Any one of these scandals would have ended this Administration but not w Trump

While Trump continues his war on truth and distracts us all with his daily chaos his regime continues robbing the American people and destroying our Institutions

None of this is normal and this is exactly how Authoritarian regimes rise. Every single American needs to vote and make sacrifices for America to help bring back normalcy. Gratefully we can stop this if we unite bec I don’t think any American wants to live under Authoritarianism

We must demand that rule of law applies to all, protect our Intel agencies who are under attack, support out candidates, continue exposing all the LIES and CORRUPTION, and never give up until all who attacked America are held accountable. It’s tiring but well worth having Freedom

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 07/05/2018 18:24

@pwnallthethings
Folks who haven't read the SSCI and other torture reports probably aren't aware just how fucking dark they are.

For example, here's a CIA psychologist threatening a detainee with a power drill

[can't attach the documents but each tweet has an embedded photo and they can all be found here:
twitter.com/pwnallthethings/status/993459344862740481 ]

Here's someone from CTC quitting in protest because the program is "a train wreck waiting to happen"

Here's a CIA cable report saying they have serious reservations because they keep being asked to torture a detainee but they think he's been truthful and have no reason to believe he's withholding any further information

Not everyone survived. Gul Rahman died in custody of hypothermia. When he died he was naked from the waist down on a cold concrete floor, and shackled so as to prevent him from getting warm.

From the OIG report, they used an (unloaded) gun pointed directly at a sleep deprived detainee's head as a "prop"

Oh, the detainee who died of hypothermia by being made to sleep half-naked on a cold concrete floor while shackled so he couldn't get warm? He was being given cold showers too. But IG couldn't work out if that was on purpose or not.

This isn't some show of 24. This is real life. Real things done to real people. And the stated objective was to induce the prisoner into a state of actual "fear and despair".

This is what it was like. Argue it was necessary if you want, but know what it means to argue that, and own what it means to say a detainee should be put in a box, assaulted, threatened with a drill, and have water poured on his face to suffocate him until he vomits and spasms.

Even if you have no sympathy for the detainees, the fall-out, directly and indirectly, domestic and international from this program is honestly mind-blowing. You have to have a truly distorted view of the value of any intelligence they might have got to think it was worth it.

As an example of some of the indirect fallout from it - MI5 threw out MI6 officers from TH because MI6 declined to formally break off relationships with CIA over it. The costs of the fallout to natsec were staggering. Never pretend otherwise.

North was...

  1. Fired by Reagan

  2. Indicted on 16 felony counts

  3. Convicted on 3 counts, including obstruction

Sounds perfect for Trump's NRA

[from wikipedia: He was convicted in the Iran–Contra affair of the late 1980s but his convictions were vacated and reversed, and all charges against him dismissed in 1991. I think this is also who Maddow and her guests refer to as a warning of immunity-gone-wrong issues]

'America’s abortion clinics experienced a major upsurge in trespassing, obstruction and blockades by anti-abortion activists in 2017, according to an annual survey by an industry group.

The National Abortion Federation report chronicled a litany of actions that ranged from coordinated trespassing efforts by abortion opponents, repeated brick-throwing at windows of a Cleveland clinic and an attempted bombing in Illinois.'
