To miss my baby's smell?

I know IANBU, and I know it's not a big thing either, but my baby's smell has gone and I'm a bit devastated about it

He's almost 7 months old and I noticed last week that he doesn't smell the same anymore; that wonderful musky baby smell from his little head has gone and I can't get it back 😩

@BothersomeCrow I think that’s called a ham baby lol

NeedMoreSleepOrSugar · 25/04/2018 09:16

I didn't smell it with either of mine, very disappointing!

My 9 month old smells like baby shampoo and porridge now

whinetime89 · 25/04/2018 09:23

it's the best smell in the world. my last is 17 months and I regularly give her a good snuff. I had planned to rub flannels on her head and store them in ziplock backs so I could get a whiff when she was bigger. pretty sure my husband thought I was insane when I mentioned that Grin

I adore baby head smell and I've never even had one. Youngest neph is now two and whenever I see him I have a good sniff if his head when I give him a cuddle but alas now the little baby smell is gone!

Maybe I should start grabbing random babies for a sniff. That wouldn't be at all weird...

I don’t want ds to ever lose his chubby baby leg rolls as they’re so cute and squishy

PasstheStarmix · 25/04/2018 09:28

loose*

My 2 year old still had that smell on her hair and back of neck. I wish so could bottle it into some sort of perfume or airspray.

PasstheStarmix · 25/04/2018 09:35

I love my 1 year old’s smell but I don’t know if it’s the ‘baby smell’ people talk. of or just his smell in general.

FatBallsAndSunflowerSeeds · 25/04/2018 09:36

Oh it's the best smell in the world! I know not everyone is lucky enough to smell it though; I had my first at the same time as my friend, and one day I was sniffing his lovely head and remarked 'don't babies smell amazing' and she replied half-heartedly 'yeah, it's the baby talc and stuff' and I thought, she doesn't get it. In fact I avoided using smelly products as they disguised the natural baby smell. Her baby did in fact smell unpleasant but I had expected her to like it!

Good news for those of you who miss the smell of baby heads; it returns on the heads of our grandchildren in my experience Smile

mikeyssister · 25/04/2018 09:56

@FatBallsAndSunflowerSeeds my friends baby didn't smell nice either. I believe it's genetic to like the smell of our own babies and find other peoples, sort of repulsive.

Years ago when i was a child my friend had a baby sister. We used to push her out in one of those big old coach built prams. I still remember that heavenly smell of baby and johnsons baby powder combined when leaning in to the pram. The smell seemed to get trapped under that huge hood. Glorious.

biscuitraider · 25/04/2018 10:28

I do think those people who put those huge bows on baby's heads are missing out on the pleasure of the scent of a baby's head. Why would you want a big fussy bow in your face.
