To have a Harvester sundae when on a diet?

Sort of a AIBU and also a WWYD.

I absolutely adore Harvester sundaes. Back in the day I used to eat one every time I went there. I haven't been to Harvester in about a year. I'm going this evening with DP and I don't know whether to have one or not.

I'm supposed to be dieting in preparation for our summer holiday in August. I've been doing really well and losing weight steadily and rarely eating unhealthy foods other than in proportion.

I really want a sundae but I feel so guilty about it. I also wonder if it's even worth the calories?

WIBU to have one? WWYD?

LondonGin tell me more... (aversion therapy) (although I don’t actually like that sort of ice cream).

Life is short ! Eat the sundae ! Enjoy it .. then get back on the health food tomorrow.. treat yo self!!! ...

@Tammy Some machines have an alarm on them, and they won’t dispense if they haven’t been cleaned by a certain time. Great.
However most chain restaurants that have the soft serve machines don’t have the super fancy ones. They reply on people following a list that says when they clean it. And it’s a pain in the ass to do.
I wouldn’t eat soft serve ice cream from a Harvester (not that it’s be my choice in the first place but it has its target market, not a problem)
Just.... bleugh.
It either comes in powdered that you add water to, or in liquid form that then freezes. Ingredients are terrible.

For the same reason I don’t like fizzy drinks from the hand held pumps either... the nozzles screw off and tend to get slacker in soda water every night by pubs... soda water is not a magical cleaning fluid!
There are lots of little holes where the syrup comes out and mixes with the carbonated water. Jesus the slimy stuff I’ve seen pulled out of there 🤮 bottled soft drinks all the way!!

LondonGin thank you. Eeugh.

CurlyRover · 25/04/2018 07:44

the Ice cream is mr whippy soft style yes?
Well if you saw inside one you’d never eat it again!

^ ooh tell more @LondonGin

@userofthiswebsite - how is it drama to ask on here? Plenty of people ask plenty of things here daily. A question doesn't mean it's full of drama.

@Tammywhynot and @Idontdowindows yes the calories eating out can be awful can't they. That's why I scoured the nutritional info for the lower calorie mains.

@Wishimaywishimight - I like that idea although I suspect it may be frowned upon in a restaurant.

Oops sorry @LondonGin I didn't realise there was another page. Aren't we relying on people following a cleaning list for most things though? Work surfaces, ovens, cooking utensils, hot plates etc.

@Pidlan thank you. Eating habits for me are complicated and disordered. I'm very much of an emotional eater but trying to get away from the habit. If I open a packet of biscuits I really struggle to just have one or two rather than the pack or if I make cake I struggle to just have a small slice, even more so when I'm feeling emotional.

Yes @curlyrover however you can see cleaning utensils are dirty and they are things you physically handle. A big machine in the corner, that you just top up with liquid and just pull down a handle to dispense- you don’t routinely see the inside of unless you strip it down to clean it.
Same as an ice machine!

Work surfaces you can SEE are dirty. But you can polish the outside of the mr whippy machine and it’ll look clean and shiny... but it’ll be murky inside!
That’s the difference

CurlyRover · 25/04/2018 09:51

@LondonGin that makes sense. Thanks for adequately putting me off for now
