Toddlers are gross including mine! (light hearted... I think)

I've helped today at dds dance school and I was shocked at how grim the children were.

We had nose picking one, one of them handed me a bogey eugh

Pooh counting (one wouldn't leave the toilets until wed counted the individual bits of pooh)

One was cleaning the bottom of her shoe with her tongue

Chewed up biscuits wiped on me and each other

Food left everywhere grapes squashed into the chairs, papers thrown on the floor

Drinks tipped up

My dd was included in this and is a terrible nose picker so no special snow flake here

I've never noticed before who gross children are and have never had this level of grim with other groups I'm back at the school tomorrow volunteering and have adjusted my tools accordingly to include plenty of tissues, wipes and anti bac!

Are everyone else's kids gross?

Oh my god, Im trying to work, but am reading this instead!!

Its bringing back memories. One of mine went for a poo in the cat litter box as she'd seen the cat pooping in there.

Not a toddler, but at a breastfeeding group meeting, I held my eldest (then eight months) up above my head in a shining moment of mummy-baby bonding- she was smilling, I was going 'ahhhh' at her lovely smily mouth... and she puked straight down over my face and into my open mouth.

Spat in the nappy bag and wiped my face. Did not drop the baby. Did not vomit.

I dont know whether this tread is reminding me of memories, or PTSD!!!

My six year old picked up a whistle from the backyard and stuck it in his mouth. I told him not to. He was happily trying to blow it till his brother noticed a slug coming out the top.

Then today he stopped to pick up some dropped strawberry laces on the floor to eat them. They were not in a packet.

He’s a bloody filth bag and he’s SIX. AND A HALF.

For the record I stopped him from picking up the sweets!

My 18 month old had a wee on the floor then got down on all fours and attempted to lick it up while barking like a dog. He also threw an apple down the garden yesturday and retrieved it this afternoon because he wasn't finished with it. Dirty bugger

Our finest hour was when potty training DS. We put a Cheerio down the loo to help his aim. Which he fished out and tried to eat. Envy

My twins both pee in the bath - very obviously, standing up to show the other one. Later on they drink the bath water (when I am not fast enough to prevent it).
Disgusting.

DD also licks the windows in buses and trains.
DS eats his bogeys, and everything he finds on the floor at home.

This thread is like the beautiful moment in Tescos...

...when youre shopping with or without your kids.

Someone elses toddler chucks something all over the floor (yoghurt, for dramatic emphasis) and screams. Throws themself on the floor and screams more.

Then all the other mums just give you the sympathetic nod and smile whilst thinking 'thank god its not just mine that does that'.

Also thinking 'thank god its not me this time!'

Kids can be terrors! Grin

I do a lot of work with pre-schoolers and kids upto about 5.. i love it generally..but yes they are vile.

Im pretty sure most young kids love to compete too.. who can be the most gross 🤣

One 3 year old in a group i was working with brought a picture to me that she had made for her mum. I told her it was great but asked what the green bits were. "Oh theyre my bogeys. I leave them on my wall next to my bed too. My mummy looooooves them!" So proud of herself!!

squiglet111 · 23/04/2018 16:57

My son picks his nose and eats it. Burrrhgghhhh :( he's in reception so should know better by now! The most annoying thing is he won't eat my cooking but will happily eat his own bogies!

bookmum08 · 23/04/2018 17:07

Don't worry. They will outgrow it. Girls at about age 9. Boys at about age 45.

My dc were in the bath together when they were 2&6.... The eldest laid down on their belly and youngest sat on their back.
me: "what are you doing"
dc2: "a poo on back"

dc 1 literally shot up out of the bath!!!!

also while camping, dc1 was about 4. We were in the showers and whilst I got dried dc stood under the water to keep warm. They stopped talking so I looked over and saw him crouched in the corner. i asked if he was ok (thinking he was hurt) to be told "I'm just doing a poo"
I had to scoop poo out of the shower using his undies, walk around the washing block to the toilets to put it down the loo!!!
