To think I'm being lied to WRT this injury

DS came in crying with older sibling. The story is that he was holding a stick and walked slowly into a wall. His T-shirt is unharmed, not a mark on it. I'm suspicious that there is more to it. Actually I'm not, I'm convinced. Does this look like walking slowly into a wall with a stick? My thought is that DC1 has done this but made him swear to secrecy.

Here's another picture. It's obviously no life-threatening but something isn't sitting right.

Yep, it does, sorry! You can see where some points where more raised and have gone in deeper than the other points so it does look like it's from the broken end of a stick, I'm confused why it's on his back though

Don't always go by marks on clothes, fatherly stupidly at 14 I climbed a fence near school, did a front flip off it and impaled my leg. Had a 2 inch by 2 inch hole in my leg, narrowly missed the vein by millimeters, needed stitches but didn't have a single stitch out of place in my school pants. Didn't even notice the thing until I went for a wee at home and there was a hole in my leg Grin

It looks similar to an injury DD1 got when she tripped when running while playing with a stick, also no damage to her clothes.

I would be sceptical about the walking slowly into a wall story.

Rather that's meant to say not father!

MorningsEleven · 22/04/2018 19:52

It's his belly, does look like his back though. DC1 is going through a "difficult" stage and I think may have done this.

A stick, yes, walking slowly into a wall? Walking fast into a wall possibly (I'm rather clumsy, I could do this to myself). Does seem like there's more to it!

TheBigFatMermaid · 22/04/2018 20:22

It does look as though it could be that. More to the point, he cam in crying, so no time between injury for calm negotiations between them to cook up a story. I would be more inclined to believe this based on that alone!

It's not easy when a child goes through a difficult stage but it would be sad not to be able to take anything on face value, always assuming the worst of them. An almost sure fire way to make sure the difficult phase becomes entrenched!

You make a fair point on both counts mermaid. Thank you for talking a bit of sense into me. We all need it sometimes.

Ha, I know I do!

I only know from experience! My DD is difficult, you could say. A lot of people around me only see that, they never see her good heart or the massive help she gives me, just her impulsiveness! I spend so much time trying to protect her from that!
