To drink out of date gin?

The corner shop has some of those wee cans that have gin and tonics pre mixed, best before date Jan 2018 for £1.

I figured it was a complete bargain and bought 8....

I’m having second thoughts now though do you think this gin will lead to certain death??!!

I may be dramatising slightly but I really really feel like a gin!!

Its a best before, so it's perfectly safe but they can't guarantee the quality of it e.g. Might not have as much flavour. Realistically, it'll be absolutely fine.

I don't think it "goes off" as such, just loses flavour / strength. You'll be fine.

Na it’ll be fine. As an aside Asda do the premixed cans for a quid each in date if you fancied stocking up.

“Best before date” is not the same as “use by”.

£1 for a shot of gin and about 20 pence worth of tonic isn't really a bargain but something that's a sealed can of sugar and alcohol isn't going to go bad anytime soon, so crack on.

They're rank anyway. Gin doesn't go off, they're mostly tonic. You'll be fine.

Best before = it's at its optimum before that date
Use by = you should it eat/drink it before this date to avoid possible food poisoning.

Alcohol is, in itself, a preservative so it will be fine!

I have a bottle of gin (unopened) which I found in the drinks cabinet at my parents house when clearing it out, which dates back to the 1970's. (they weren't big drinkers!). It was not a brand I had heard of. I googled it and the same bottle from that year is selling for £130 - so I'm assuming it doesn't go off!
In your case OP I think the worst that would happen is that the tonic would have gone flat!
