I know they usually don't go down as well as Oliver and Olivia on here but I really like the name Hudson for a boy

Just realised both my kids have surnames as first names. Had never crossed my mind before as one is also relatively common as a first name and the other has a diminutive which is also relatively common. And both have my surname as their middle name and their father's surname as a surname.
In the end I think we grow into our names and can change them if we don't like them anyway.
A friend of mine has a beautiful name but was called by a very silly nickname as a child. She now has a very high powered professional career - and chooses to go by her nickname - no-one thinks twice - it is just who she is.

I like Redmond, Ryan and Kelly as first names and they are Irish surnames.
I'm not sure about Murphy as a first name though Smile

Hudson sounds ok. I'm Scots and the Frasers, Camerons, Finlays etc all sound fine. But for whatever reason I don't like the Macauley, Mackenzie type surnames as first names. Especially not for girls.
