Our neighbour and his mother f-ing lawnmower

Sick baby who we managed to get to sleep at 7pm. He insists on turning on his lawnmower at 7.15. I know it's not his fault she is sick and I get it, he wants to use the good weather. But 7.15pm? Really? To add to it his daughter keeps following him around the front lawn screaming. Baby has now woken up. I'm so annoyed. They are generally a loud family but today they are doing my head in.

He did WHAT??!! how vary dare he cut his grass while your baby sleeps! Hmm

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 21/04/2018 20:56

Sorry your baby is unwell, but that’s not the neighbours look out.715 isn’t so late to be in the garden
Hope your baby makes a recovery soon,I get it’s a difficult time

PUGaLUGS · 21/04/2018 20:57

Sorry but you are BU.

SadieHH · 21/04/2018 21:18

Oh look how interesting. Person with children is unreasonable again in the inconsiderate neighbours debate. You can bet if your kid was outside playing at 7.15 that people here would tell you that’s too late for noise.

BoneyBackJefferson · 21/04/2018 21:27

SadieHH

anybody making disturbing noise over a long period of time is unreasonable.

The OP doesn't say how long its takes to cut the grass.

Cicera · 21/04/2018 21:33

That does sound late to me. I use power tools regularly outside, and would never use them that late!

jasjas1973 · 21/04/2018 21:36

Swap the mower for a motocross bike ridden round a field at 7 or 8pm and see how many people would moan that it was completely unreasonable?

At a w/e you ve all fcuking day to mow, not in the evening when people are relaxing having a sundowner or a BBQ.

Perhaps try an show some consideration, something which is sadly missing now -a-days.

HannahHut · 21/04/2018 21:44

It is best to mow the law in the cooler weather. So its either early morning or in the evening.

If he had done it in the morning he would probably be worrying about annoying people and getting complaints so went for the evening. Seems like he can't win!

Storm4star · 21/04/2018 21:57

Ah the joys of summer. I hate peoples loud music blasting out all day and evening long. Have no babies, it just gets on my nerves as I like peace and quiet. But I am fully aware it’s unreasonable of me to think people shouldn’t play music, although I wish it didn’t go on until 3am! I sympathise and understand but it’s one of those facts of life we unfortunately have to deal with.

KimchiLaLa · 21/04/2018 22:08

Thanks all, I do get that I am being BU. I guess I'm just annoyed as that family is just so loud. Consistently. Id say the average age on the street is early 40's, we are the youngest however. A lot of families have primary school aged kids and below. One of my other neighbour's who has a one year old commented on this family too. You just always know when they're in.

Right, so rather than inconvenience himself by mowing in uncomfortable heat, he should inconvenience the neighbours by mowing in the evening. Hmm

I don’t think so. It’s his property, if it is inconvenient for him to mow at a time that is considerate of his neighbours, that’s his problem. He doesn’t get to make it his neighbours’ problem.

Ractify · 22/04/2018 02:23

Where I am (not U.K.), there are laws prohibiting lawn mower noise from 7pm to 7am (Mon - Sat) and 7pm to 8am (Sun & Public Holidays). So we only have the rare occurrence of lawn mower/tool noise after 7pm.... Of course, not everyone complies, but it isn't usual.

Mornings are another story, however - take the neighbour across the road. Apparently on Christmas Day and then New Year's Day, his lawn needed mowing at 6am...... I'm really not a morning person.......

"Right, so rather than inconvenience himself by mowing in uncomfortable heat"

It's not likely to be about the heat being uncomfortable, it's actually better for the lawn to mow when it's cool.

I do. I can't be in the heat long.

And 7.15 is fine, by pretty much most peoples standards.
