To be embarrassed by my tomato-like face?

Never having been to the gym in my life before Blush I recently began working with a personal trainer twice a week. I've been doing it 5 weeks now and I love it and have lost nearly a stone, which is awesome :)

However, every time I work out, I get a REALLY bright red face and I feel so embarrassed by it! I thought this was due to being unfit but it seems to be persisting even though I am getting fitter. Does anyone know why this happens and if it will stop happening eventually?

I'm pretty fit. I go purple. I've stopped caring about it.

Very well done on your success!!

Sometimes I care, sometimes I don't. I've got rosacea too. If I care, a bit of foundation alleviates it.

I go red and sweaty.

Amazes me how some people manage to exercise with a full face of make-up and neat, tidy hair and still look as fresh and groomed at the end of the session as they did at the beginning.

I struggle with this. I don't mind too much at the gym but I have to walk through a shopping complex to the car park and I'm conscious of my puce blotchy face. Has anyone found anything decent to help after work out and shower? I was looking at clinique fit neutralising powder but the reviews say it's hard to apply. I don't want to spend ages applying make up so was wondering if there's anything I can quickly use to tone it down a bit.

I try to view it as a positive thing - at least I've had a worthwhile session!

Dont be embarrassed, embrace it, it shows how hard you've worked and when you get home and shower, your skin will be glowing. The showers after exercising are amazing, it's a wonderful feeling when the water hits a warm, tired body. If I catch sight of myself in the mirror at the gym I look horrendous, even my hair is wet through sweating, I'm on the verge of foaming at the mouth, i look a state, but that's what I'm there for to work hard. I don't know how people even manage to look good.

I get this too! I have mild ichthyosis and eczema (really dry skin basically!) and struggle to cool down after exercise. I don’t really sweat so instead I go tomato face and feel my pulse in my head. The fitter I am makes no difference either! I just make sure I put a cool towel on my face after, make sure I do a cool down session and also hydrate best I can in the hour before I exercise.

Go #TeamTomatoFace at least we’re exercising!
