To call the police?

I'm a mixture of upset and really fucking angry.

My 15 yr old was out after school today with two girl friends and unprovoked was punched in the side of the head / in the face while sitting in Mc donalds. The other boy was about his age (my son didn't retaliate - and tbh is a quiet and unassuming lad). The staff in McDonald's made sure he was ok and called one of his friends parents to come and collect them. They didn't call the police.

I've called the police and reported it .. he had several burises on his forehead /side of his head.

He didn't want me to call the police - is afraid of reprisal.

I'm fuming and want to hunt this kids down ...

Was I being unreasonable to call the police ? What would you have done ?

I'm really surprised that the shift manager didn't phone the police. McDonald's also have various staff sage systems including a panic button.

Angrybird345 · 21/04/2018 05:15

They can’t use a panic button for this!!!!!

Mummyoflittledragon · 21/04/2018 05:42

Angrybird
That’s not what Questionablemouse said. Of course they didn’t need to use the panic button.

Your poor ds. You absolutely did the right thing.

You would not be unreasonable to call the police. Here they call it "the knockout game." At least one person has been killed being randomly punched in the head.

QuestionableMouse · 21/04/2018 08:17

They could have used the panic button at the time. It puts the store in touch with the police and they can see what's going on.

I've told my teenage daughter that I'd rather she worked in a pub than in MacDonalds. Some (by NO means all) of the kids that go there are feral. And some of the adults. I don't envy those who work there these days. They have actual security officers in some branches. Crazy.

Oh, and really sorry about your son, OP. I hope the poor lad's ok x

I quite often see the police down at mcdonalds! Slightly different but my then 15 year old daughter walking home with some friends around 7pm one evening was headbutted by some woman in her twenties . Completely unprovoked, they were doing nothing but walking past, woman was high on drugs. Reported it, wasn't her first offence and she ended up in prison.

Which could be where the young lad who assaulted your son will be in a few years time if he doesn't get stopped now. Police need to have a word.

I hope the police attended and are dealing with the issue. McDonald's probably didn't want to report it because they have a license to consider.

We have an appointment with the police to give a statement between 12pm and 4pm on Sunday.

Son took himself off to bed about 10pm last night. Not sure if he was tired or upset. I went in and checked on him just before I went to sleep and he was sleeping (and breathing!).

Been dreaming all night that he was dead.

Achafi No, thats simply not true. We regularly report incidents of ASB to the police; it’s never an issue.

QuestionableMouse · 21/04/2018 21:49

We reported a drunk driver today before he could get back on the motorway. Police came and he was arrested.
