I just spotted some lovely blankets in the sale. They can be used as a blanket with a foot pouch, or done up as a sleeping bag. The whole blanket rolls and tucks into the foot pouch to keep it neat when not in use. DS is a real one for having a snuggle up on the sofa of an evening, and would love it. £40 off the original price in a closing down sale, so a lot of money to be saved if you focus on the RRP, but it will still set me back £55 including delivery to get one each for him and the bump for when she arrives. £55 for two blankets! It's going to take me a while to get used to not beinvg able to just get bits like that now we have another on the way.

Do other people manage, or do treats and extras pretty much stop once you have more than one DC?

MissPeregrine it doesn't in this house! Contents of party bags, the odd McDonalds Happy Meal toy, stuff from those £1 vending machines with the little plastic balls inside that DS chooses to spend his trolley £ on more often than not. He NEVER plays with it! He'll empty it allover the floor, then not look at it again, and it ends up in the bin as there's no use in sending it to the charity shop, no resale value in it. It's just a massive waste of stuff to end up in landfill. I haven't done traditional party bags for either of his parties. His 1st they all got a book from the £ shop, his 2nd they all got a paint your own biscuit.
Glad to hear somebody enjoys those things though, the amount that get produced is a huge amount to end up simply thrown away because NOBODY actually plays with them.

bring your duvets down to snuggle.that all we fid.some sundays the duvets didn't get taken back up till that night! for bed. :)
there are ways round things.dnot get bunged down with what you can do or don't have.look at what you do and then become a genius mum at working with it to make it fun.cardboard car anyone! ;)
what toys do you remember from childhood.me it the walks out.the feeding the ducks.the playing ball.yes the few odd goodies but that was more because of who gave it and when.
going out in thw woods and playing and finding and naming trees.
making gran cards.
little cress pots or herb plants.
buy some seeds and planting some and nurturing
baking some cupcakes.
making bookmarks.
help your little one appreciate and want the thigns important to YOUR family.if you feel your missing out for them they will feel it too.i know its not that simple if friends around are getting other stuff.but it really stops bothering them so much when they feel importantance in stuff with your guidance.if I'm making any sense!
they will get so much more out of laughing feeding the ducks with you or playing your rock game.

gosh, mine then really are a weird lot! McDonald's toys are often a hit! I guess because often they are characters from shows they watch etc. and my youngest adores bouncy walls and has a collection! I've got to resign myself I fear...

BTW, mine would have loved both your party bag treats, the book more so, great choice!

balls, not walls, sorry!!

We have 2 girls - both teens now.

We never got into buying them the same thing at all. So expense is not double - we buy stuff for Birthdays/Christmas and when one has a great NEED for something.

Can't have the duvet downstairs, OH is allergic to the cats, so the bedroom as as cat freeasit's possible to be. That's why we got the slanket, much quicker to wash and dry :-)

Character toys are largely lost on DS, I can't stand the majority of kids television, he does't go to nursery to be shown things there, so I' just enjoying being abel to avoid it for the moment. We have the TV on, but music videos on YouTube as he loves to dance. We'll sometimes put a Disney film, or something we'll enjoy like Shrek on Netflix on a evening or if he's poorly. I see no need to suffer it until he becomes aware and can ask for it Grin
