to ask if your partner caught/delivered your baby?

Hello all.

How many people here have had their partners deliver or catch their baby at birth?

Would it be unreasonable to request this?

(As long as everything happens normally and as expected of course - not expecting dad too actually do anything except put it his hands and catch).

What do you think?

I think midwives would be happy to allow this, assuming all else is going well. we were asked in advance if DH wanted to cut chord - he didn't! - and in any case, with two very traumatic births he wasn't allowed anywhere near the business end.

but my dad caught my brother! Unexpectedly quick delivery, no midwife to be found....! Apparently there was a lot of swearing (before, during and after!).
