To not wash my kids faces/tell them to wash their faces...

My kids don't wash their faces as part of a morning routine.
To be really honest I hardly wash my own face either, just whatever sprays onto it from the shower is done then a moisturiser when I remember.

If they have some food on their face from eating I just use a baby wipe.

If your kids wash their faces in a morning, when did you introduce this? What do they use?

I wash my kids faces, or they wash their own, with a cloth after meals. They don't wash them when they get up (because they're just about to have breakfast) or going to bed (because they've just had them washed after dinner).

Like just a flannel with water you mean?

Mine don't wash their faces every Morning by because they have a bath every night. If they get food around their mouths I will wipe it off.

MyRelationshipIsWeird · 17/04/2018 23:28

Don’t they have sleepy eyes? Nothing worse than eye goo in the mornings - except maybe not brushing teeth. I don’t feel awake until I’ve washed my face and brushed my teeth.

You do realise skin sweats even if you don't realise it's sweating (during the night for e.g) and skin also exudes oils and gets clogged with dirt and grime from outdoors....why wouldn't you want to wash your /your kids faces , even a soapy wash cloth would be better than nothing....skin doesn't clean itself, you need to wash it when you do your daily ablutionsGrin

Mine just use water and a flannel to clean their faces, as do I.

Yes, just warm water. I wouldn't put soap on their faces. The cloths I use are actually dishcloths! But they are nice and soft.

(I actually wash their hands and faces and then use the cloth to wipe up after the meal and then throw it in the wash. Have been doing it this way since I started weaning DD).

AjasLipstick · 17/04/2018 23:34

I would consider just use a babywipe as washing their face.

But I suppose you mean with soap or cleanser and water? I never used to wash mine as such....but I used to use makeup remover. Now I wash it with a hot cloth and emollient cream and my skin is much better.

Kids it's not so important for but as an adult, you do need to exfoliate and open your pores.

qwertyuiopy · 17/04/2018 23:37

They just copy what I or DH do so splash their face or wipe with facecloth (but don't use facewash as it might get in their eyes).

They've done this ever since they were old enough to stand at the sink on a step.

Chouetted · 17/04/2018 23:40

You've got to be careful with exfoliation, you're rubbing away the layer that protects the rest of your skin.

snewname · 17/04/2018 23:40

I've never washed mine or my kids faces in the morning. I think it's one of those ingrained habits that isn't needed in modern life. We've never used more than plain water on our faces in the shower either. Neither I not my teens have ever had spots.

BrutusMcDogface · 17/04/2018 23:43

I must admit we're in the babywipe after breakfast camp. Bad for the environment; have been thinking about colour coded flannels for them. They do have a good wash before bed (bath or shower).

BrutusMcDogface · 17/04/2018 23:44

I couldn't leave the house without washing my face, though!

Skinnyboneylittlepony · 17/04/2018 23:47

Revolting.

EyeDrops · 17/04/2018 23:49

I wash my toddler's face after brushing her teeth as she ends up covered in toothpaste foam! I just use a flannel with warm water. I wouldn't think to wash mine like that besides using cleanser/wipes anyway.

PointlessUsername · 17/04/2018 23:49

They wash their faces after brushing their teeth before we leave for school.

MildredHubble88 · 17/04/2018 23:53

I was made to wash my face every day as a child by the way, and it was something I've never continued since I've had the choice. Absolutely hate the feeling of water on my face when the rest of me is dry, it throws me all off. Grin

If they have food, toothpaste or snot on their faces (one of them pretty much constantly has something) I just wipe it off with a baby wipe or a cheeky wipe if I've got some washed and ready.
