Is this generous enough?

A friend offered to look after our dog for 5 days. She has a dog and both dogs get on very well. As a thank you we bought them wine and beer from the country we visited and chocolate for the DC. I also bought a bunch of flowers for my friend. They're also coming round for dinner next month.

I always fret I'm being mean with my thank you's and then sometimes end up going over the top. Confused

Is this thank you enough?

Sounds fine to me.

Fintress · 17/04/2018 14:44

No, I would be delighted with that! I don't get anything near that when I dog sit for much longer, not that I expect anything as we love the dog and would really like to keep her.

Cakecrumbsinmybra · 17/04/2018 14:46

Sounds fine to me and she offered too so probably enjoys helping out and having your dog!

My friend looks after my dog when I go away (which is good as my dog is a real nelly and wouldn't cope very well in kennels), I give her £50 per week, I did it in vouchers at first, but now just give her the cash. Every time she says I shouldn't but it makes me feel better about the next time I ask her to have my dog IYSWIM Halo

We occasionally dog sit for a friend - we expect nothing as we love spending time with the dog. She insists on giving us flowers and cash, I absolutely hate the cash (and love the flowers!) we politely argue each time and I lose (I put up a good fight though). So I always put it in my LO’s piggy bank.

OlennasWimple I just totally copied your post sorry Blush

Assuming you cover any out of pocket costs (e.g. you provide the food and would pay vet bills if needed) then yes.

Sounds lovely! I dog sit for a friend and am always happy to do it for free (we have two of our own dogs, so having another doesn’t really create any extra work!). She sometimes pays a token amount if it’s for a long period of time, and other times she might just buy our dogs some treats or us some chocolates. We always tell her we are happy to do it for nothing, so anything she does give us is a lovely bonus. I’m sure your friend feels the same!

Hont1986 · 17/04/2018 15:29

Definitely more than I would expect (wine AND beer AND chocolate AND flowers) but I can't see it doing any harm.

drumandthebass · 17/04/2018 17:08

Thanks everyone. I thought it was probably ok, but do have a tendency to over think things

I cat sit for a friend and get a bottle of wine and/or tat from wherever he's been but tbf I would do it for nothing as the cat is the loveliest creature.

That sounds fine to me!
