Housing Benefit

Sorry a bit of posting for traffic.

I live in a 3 bedroom house just me and my daughter, I private rent.

I'm believe I'm entitled to a little bit of housing benefit due to having to work shorter hours and being on a lower income, my bedroom entitlement is obviously 2 bedrooms but living in a 3 bed will I still get it?

Thank you

There is a bedroom tax which you would be liable for as you are under occupying.

Have you done a benefit calculation online?

NapQueen · 15/04/2018 21:19

Sorry ignore underoccupancy - just reread private renter.

Anyway, do the calculation online.

youll get an amount deducted from your housing benefit for under occupied, its worth applying for as its like a gateway benefit to accessing free dental care, eye tests and prescriptions

You will only get the 2 bedroom rate as you will only qualify for this so will need to top up the extra yourself.

Becca19962014 · 15/04/2018 21:28

This'll help you work out the rate in your area lha-direct.voa.gov.uk/search.aspx the amount you'll get depends on what you have coming in. This assumes your area hasn't gone over to universal credit in which case the amount will be different.

www.entitledto.co.uk Is another site which may be helpful to you.

I believe you will be but you'll only be entitled to the amount for 2 bedrooms (i lived in a one bed flat but was entitled to two rooms so was also allowed the amount for two beds).
