I have an 11 year old ds and am wondering when it is likely to start and what the first signs are likely to be?

OP posts:

My DS is 12 - no signs yet.

DS started at 12. It all happened quite suddenly and quickly.
Growth spurt upwards, feet grew 2 sizes, voice broke, pubic hair, spots and extra grumpy attitude.

I don't know why people are talking about their girls. The OP is asking about boys Hmm

NotAgainYoda To be fair, the title does say child, not son particularly.

I didn't start periods until 14 and don't think I had much of boobs until then either. Still don't have much now 😪

DS1 started late compared to his friends and even now aged 16 he doesn't have much in the way of facial hair. It was a problem for him in that he was a little boy compared to his classmates and found it hard to compete with them in terms of sports. The good news is that they have all stopped growing while he hasn't and he's caught up and in most cases overtaken them. I think ds2 will start puberty much sooner than ds1.
Incidentally I was worried enough to start a thread about it a few years ago and like you was accused by idiots of being a troll. Clearly nothing changes.

At just gone 12 ds is so hormonal it's not true! The tears and mood swings are not something I'd really expected in a boy. Its a real emotional rollercoaster. His voice very occasionally drops too but we haven't had any of the top register squeaking yet.

Well with boys it starts with enlargement of the testes. So, depending on how self-concious he is, you may not be aware of it. With ds1 the first signs we noticed was his hair and skin getting greasier. He was 12.
