Bullying at work? Confronted them, now aibu to report them?

Sorry to be vague about the actual incident but I don’t want to be outed in real life.

There was an incident at work, included racism and no one knows who did it. I heard my name was being blamed by someone. I categorically had nothing to do with the incident.

I confronted this person (in the nicest way you can), I was calm and just stated what I heard.

She confirmed that yes she was saying but so was everyone else (Don’t believe that to be true) and then she walked off.

Feel like I should take it higher?

For the simple fact she’s now made it out to be that every single person at work is against me and talking about me.

Hardly a nice working environment to be in.

Yes, I would take it higher.

How awful for you Flowers

Speak to your manager, outline what has been said, very factually. Ignore what she has said regarding others as that can't be proved.

Of course you're not being unreasonable. Thst is abuse. You're not there to be abused. This needs to be severely dealt with. I'm sure you can be sacked on the spot for racist behaviour and if people are it's their own bloody fault.

Thank you.

I’ve spoken to my manager before I confronted her and I just got told “ignore it”.

Bitchy gossip I can deal with (it’s just sadly an office environment) but being accused of this is disgusting.

I suffer quite bad with anxiety and the thought of having to go back there on Monday

You got told to ignore racist bullying behaviour. Does your boss know they're actually breaking employment law with that "advice".

Beychella · 15/04/2018 10:54

Really?

I mean it’s not racist bullying in regards to myself as I wasn’t targeted in the incident. I was just blamed for it.

But if a person is gossiping saying I did it is there really anything they (management) can do?

Any advice on this would be appreciated.

Feel like I’m close to have an anxiety attack tbh
