Binge watch.
He can only watch two episodes of something at the most It's not that he can't sit still for that long, as he is fine to sit listening to music or reading.
He says that two episode is about the same length as a film and therefore the optimum amount of time. "There's a reason they don't make three hour films," apparently. Hmm

Which of us is being unreasonable?! Please say him, so I can make him watch more of the OA with me.

Alternatively, if he can't binge watch then I'm allowed to cheat on him and watch episode 3 alone, right? The problem is that it's too jumpy to watch on my own. wimp

I can’t watch films because I get tetchy sitting and concentrating that long so I’m kind of with your DH. But I can binge watch.

MrsHathaway · 13/04/2018 20:49

They do make three-hour films though. Such films often go down as classics.

WATCH THE EP AND SPOILER IT FOR HIM. How else will he learn?

Catspaws · 13/04/2018 20:50

I am with your DH, two episodes at a time is about my max! I struggle with long films as well but I can read for hours at a time. I think maybe the tv is too much stimulation for hours at a time.

Maybe you can negotiate an open relationship that allows you to skip ahead on him Wink

DD43 · 13/04/2018 20:50

I agree. I binge-watched 7 episodes of Stranger things 2.

Even dreamt about it!!!

Allthebestnamesareused · 13/04/2018 20:51

My DH is the same as yours - sort of. Series one of snything I can get him to binge watch but anything after that he gets bored and I either watch by myself when he isnt in or we watch at snail's pace but he lets me know when he isn't interested.

user1471517900 · 13/04/2018 20:51

I agree with your DH too. I like to think about each episode etc rather than have them all blur into one. Plus some anticipation is always good

Ummmmgogo · 13/04/2018 20:52

you are. 2 hours is ages to sit still and concentrate. in my day we watched an episode a week. down with bingewatching I say!

Grin If I wasn't so much of a wimp, I would do this MrsH!

All you snail-pace people, don't you forget what has happened? We generally only watch TV one or two times a week and when we go an episode at a time, I forget what happened a month ago and lose interest.
Fair enough for people who have short attention spans, but this is a man who can stay up all night to finish a novel. He can also do yoga what seems like all day when we're on holiday.

Surely it's use it or lose it, like exercise and he just needs to build up his binge watching muscles, right?!

I can binge watch for Britain. Dh can only watch one episode of a series at a time and even then he needs loo breaks just so he can move.

Somerville · 13/04/2018 21:33

Shock Needing loo breaks for one episode Grin

I think some of us need a partner swap for purely TV watching purposes.

It does depend what it is though. When I was in the thick of watching 'The Killing' on Netflix I couldn't stop thinking about it and abandoned all other tv to watch two episodes every night.
