She was wearing pyjamas, dressing gown and big fluffy slippers. And doing two washing machine loads of clothes. I did find it funny, but was amazed that she was brave enough to do this.

Crusty Comfortable old clothes is appropriate dress code.

Brought clothes in a black bag, removed clothes they were wearing, made black bag into a kind of skirt, washed all of their clothes

Errr...do you have the postcode....

😊🤣

Is it some sort of anti establishment thing?
There was a time it would have been indicative of a mental health issue

SmileyBird · 13/04/2018 16:04

TheQueenOfWands

I was literally just thinking: that wouldn’t happen in Bath Grin

Lucked · 13/04/2018 16:06

I think unless she was also washing all her coats and shoes she was ridiculous to go out like that.

Same situation but with coat and trainers would have been better if absolutely everything else needed a wash.

MiggledyHiggins · 13/04/2018 16:08

I'd see that as getting her money's worth - she's probably washing every last bit of her laundry and can actually see the bottom of the laundry basket unlike me!

PelvicFloorClenchReminder · 13/04/2018 16:10

This reminds me of the Mr Pink Whistle story where the poor woman was trying to do her children's washing and everything kept going wrong, they had to go to bed all day as they had nothing left to wear.

Thank you OP, I appear to be correctly dressed for the occasion.Grin
Taking my own fabric conditioner with me though, sort of "bring a bottle"

Now I am nostalgic for the long lost, heady, days of Bath and London road......

crunchymint · 13/04/2018 16:12

If I was washing everything I would wear a coat and shoes. Her pyjama bottoms were the kind that looked like leggings if you didn't look closely, so no one would have noticed. Whereas the big fluffy slippers really drew your attention.

But Debretts really should include appropriate launderette dress in their guide.

I think big fluffy slippers are a definite no.
Health and Safety and all that.
I think a slightly worn, yet comfortable, steel toe cap.

WineIsTheAnswer · 13/04/2018 16:20

I fear you may have met my friend OP. Her argument is when I'm at home washing my clothes I'm comfortable so she should be too. She'll also pop to the pub and ask for some milk or bread as it's closer to the shops. She's a little bit odd like that but she's otherwise harmless.

lolaflores I am imagining your Tescos cream puff lady exploding.Do you think that special extra runny jam would come out or that really sweet artificial cream? Or both. I hope it happens outside so passing dogs and birds get a feast, otherwise they will have to close off a whole aisle to deal with the aftermath.

Elendon · 13/04/2018 16:37

But the Levi's man didn't want to mix the whites with the darks and stinky shoes

Hero!

I so now want to go to a laundrette in my pj's, dressing gown and fluffy slippers. I only wear the first though and go jogging in them

20nil · 13/04/2018 16:48

Grin at 'angry cream puff'

cate16 · 13/04/2018 16:51

I'd just like to see a launderette full stop. None around us anymore :(

I'd love somewhere to go and wash my big things like duvets.

crunchymint · 13/04/2018 18:55

Our launderette does dry cleaning and ironing as well. It is invaluable for things that are too big for normal washing machines.
