We already have soft play and the cinema mentally crossed off the list of possibilities due to the chaos. Today we went to an activity that had an hour wait and was operating a 1 in one out policy. 45 minutes of queuing the lady in front had an extra 5 people arrive and join her and when I (politely) mentioned it someone else jumped in saying it’s fine as she was paying for them all Angry. On the way out saw someone taking a small child with chicken pox in! AIBU to insist we only visit family friendly places in term time Grin

Sorry to de rail but what is this new thing of people calling main school holidays half term. I always thought half term was exactly that -half way through a term. Is the word morphing into some thing new.

Totally with you OP, went to a museum today that we usually go to in term time and it was carnage. So. Many. Children. Boisterous ten year olds knocking over my 2 yo DC countless times, hogging the equipment and refusing to share etc.
Plus all the playgroups are shut so there’s literally nothing you can do with pre-schoolers.
Thinking of opening my own playgroup that doesn’t shut in school holidays as I really don’t see the need for it.

Me too - l work at a tourist attraction! Endless noise, massive queues, as much stuff broken as sold ... Only another week to go ...

I once made the mistake of trying to go to Eureka in Halifax one February half term. The queue to get in was 2 hours long, so we went and had lunch at the Piece Hall instead. We also went to The Deep that same half term, and waited ages to get in.
