To hate the term 'stay at home mum'? Like who came up with that, the more I think about it- the more misogynistic it sounds. I feel like it's such an old fashioned saying. A mum that stays at home. Maybe she's out all day but no she's a 'stay at home' mum...reminds me of the woman stay in the kitchen sentiment. Ick. Can we coin another term for it like 'raising their children mum'?! I'm not a stay at home mum but I just really don't like that saying. I feel like there should be a more respectful way to put if.

We’re all raising our children.
What I hate is the conflict about how people choose or need to do it

Surely women who are working are raising their children too?

Perfectly1mperfect · 10/04/2018 02:04

Then don't think about it or just don't use it for yourself or others. It simply describes a mum who doesn't go to a place of work. Nothing more meant by it. I think we could analyse pretty much every term or phrase and someone could be offended if they chose to be.

Why take it offensive, it’s a truth, be proud instead
