Has anyone done/do this? Is it worth it?

It’s a MLM, I’m assuming it has a lot of the same issues that other MLM companies have with the main one being that the sellers spend more than they ever get back,

SasBel · 09/04/2018 20:37

They are expensive to buy as a customer, a lady brings them to our local fundraisers, she never sells many.

SexTrainGlue · 09/04/2018 20:39

It's a nice product, but always remember that people can buy them from Usbourne directly online, from bookshoos and from discounter like The Book People.

As there's a real product, fairly sensibly priced, it's not as bad as some MLMs (and it's not cultish) but you do need to be very realistic about how much you will really make.

Babyplaymat · 09/04/2018 20:39

You can buy them on Amazon or in the Works etc for miles cheaper, so I can't see it doing well.

Not massively pressured as MLMs go, but books are massively expensive. I made my start up money back and that was it.

An acquaintance used to sell their books. I once hosted a party for her, mainly just to be nice. I think these people probably rely on the goodwill of friends and family, to be honest. I can just remember thinking 'why am I doing this, when I get get the books on 3 for 2 at Waterstones, or even cheaper on Amazon?' Confused There seemed little incentive all round.

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 09/04/2018 20:56

And they are awful.

Glumglowworm · 09/04/2018 20:57

My mum used to, in the early 90s. They’re like Avon in that they’re well established brands and decent products although still MLM,

But I can’t imagine it being terribly successful with so many easier and cheaper ways for people to buy books these days.

Hortonlovesahoo · 09/04/2018 21:14

A friend did this for a while and made 0 money. She used to boost up sales by buying her own kids some stock. I wanted to support her but it was all much more expensive in total than going to other sellers

allofthestress · 09/04/2018 21:16

Try Scholastic instead - the books are loads cheaper and there’s not the same pressure to sell (and you don’t have to build a team).

SickofThomasTheTank · 09/04/2018 21:16

I did it and if you don't make I think it was 3 x £100 orders within a certain time frame the. You are billed £265 for the kit!
