Can anyone help, i need to get a train to kent wednesday. Obviously its expensive I'm sure that I've heard of website that breaks the journey down so you change trains and reduce the cost?
Does anyone have any ideas?

Have you checked Grand Central?

Wed 09.15 to Rochester, Kent would be £60.50 single.

( I just chose random place in Kent for the destination)

There aren't usually any split fares available OP. Leeds to Kings X then St Pancras to Kent Coast on the high speed is £82 now at its cheapest level.

StereophonicallyChallenged · 09/04/2018 15:34

£82 return that is. For an advance ticket.

Does it have to be by train? There’s a large bus station in Leeds and a lot of National Express / Megabus Services run from there and are much cheaper.

Depends on where you need to get to in Kent - Victoria, Charing Cross, Cannon Street and St Pancras all go to various areas of the county.

I often find splitting the journeys works so, Leeds to London (maybe with a Travelcard to allow you to get the tube) and then London Victoria (or wherever) to Kent.
Usually a specified Advance into London is the cheapest.

The website that you’re thinking of (linked above) doesn’t necessarily guarantee to lower the cost as it specifically depends on the route and the amount of train operating companies on that route. Eg via/not via a location (like London/Manchester/whatever) or if multiple providers service that route and there’s a slower/more budget friendly option

That’s probably why you can’t find a cheaper ticket.

Are you eligible for a rail card?

Buy a ticket from Leeds to London Kings Cross, you can sometimes get these quite cheaply depending on how far in advance you're looking. Then from there it depends where in Kent you're going. Most of the major towns are (Ashford, Canterbury, Ramsgate, Folkestone, etc.) are served well by the high speed service from St Pancras.
