It's messed up to affectionately call a baby "sexy"

I'm on my third baby. With each baby my mum has affectionately used the phrase "you sexy baby"
This is messed up, right?

I've told her several times not to say it, especially with my 2nd as I'd have been mortified if my eldest repeated it in public and someone thought she'd learned that from me.
5 years after my 2nd and the other day I heard her say it again to my 3rd baby. I was busy in another room at the time so haven't brought it up again, but she has a habit of not listening and doing/saying mostly harmless but bloody stupid things around my kids, so WIBU, when she inevitably says it again, to make sure, in no uncertain terms, that it's a moronic and disturbing thing to say to a BABY?
I'd sooner my kids were caught swearing than repeating something like that... but I can't put my finger on why it's so irritating and cringe worthy.

Yes I do think this is a bit odd tbh. although I do call my cat 'you sexy thing'

I know lots of people who would describe their horse, dog or child as sexy. They write it on Facebook all the time. I think it's revolting, a horrible thing to say.

Calling a baby or child "sexy" is absolutely repugnant. Honestly, what in the hell is wrong with some people?

Glad it's not just me!
I know she doesn't mean anything sinister by it, so don't want it to seem like I'm having a go at her, but I need her to listen finally and understand that it's weird to a lot/most people.

My friend called her baby son 'my little orgasm' I found it horribly inappropriate.

Happened to me once at a random mummy meet up group. A woman called my son "sexy boy" and I found it hideously inappropriate. Nope. Nope train to Nopesville.

for some reason calling a cat sexy doesn't seem bad.

It's horrid.

I literally have NEVER heard this and think it’s massively weird.
