Dishwasher fault

Posting for traffic - saved hard, and by the power of bargain hunting, cashback and codes managed to get a mid range Bosch dishwasher around 3.5yrs ago. It's come up with fault code e25. We've replaced the pump with a new one, & made sure it's all clear of blockages. It's still not working and Bosch can't help other than £100+ to send engineer out plus potential parts etc.
If anyone here is, or knows, a dishwasher engineer we would really appreciate tips / advice.
Our finances are dire atm DH was made redundant, then he was admitted to hospital, only now he's back in work and we haven't recovered financially as yet. So, if we can avoid an engineer call out it would really help.

You don't need to have a Bosch engineer, you can probably get someone local to come out for less than £100. Who fitted the new pump? Can you go back to them as the problem hasn't been fixed?

BloodyBosch · 08/04/2018 14:37

Husband fitted new pump. He's pretty good with this stuff. He's done everything suggested so far, just don't know what he can try now. Anyone called out will be ££ unfortunately due to rural location.
May have to give up on it, as the budget just isn't there atm. 😞
Thank you for taking the time to reply Flowers

Have you watched all the youtube videos on how to fix dishwashers, I've sorted out appliance problems with them

BloodyBosch · 10/04/2018 23:00

Hi Patti, yes we have. Usually a new pump resolves the problem. Totally flummoxed now Confused

As well as cleaning the tube pump and drain hose, has he checked the impeller pump? It looks like a fairly common problem.

bionicnemonic · 10/04/2018 23:46

I know it sounds basic but have you run a a dishwasher descaler through it? I thought the pump had gone once...turned out it was scale

This may sound nuts but it kept ours going for ages - get the dishwasher out of its hole and rock it as far as you can side to side - you may hear water gurgling. They get an airlock in sometimes.

I had two different not emptying problems with a Bosch or Siemens dishwasher one was apiece of fine posh wine glass that was hard to see impeding the impeller. The other problem was this particular model had a little circle cap near the filters ( might even have been in filter reservoir under the silver filter that you clean food debris off ) in bottom of the machine ... inside there was a tiny float about the size of a large squishy airline type earplug. If you have this little circle cap in the bottom of dishwasher ( bigger than a penny smaller than a two pence coin ) then gently, with something not sharp, lever off the cap take out the float wipe the bottom on a piece of kitchen paper - this is enough to allow the magnetic base of the float to contact and do its job again. I did all the easy to do things before I paid through the nose for that maintenance lesson, things like checking sink waste not blocked impeding water passing and took off the waste pipe and soaked in bucket then using dowl rod to check it was clear too before calling out engineer.

We had to tip our Bosch too to get it to drain properly!

Some great tips, thanks. Will keep him occupied this weekend!!

You could always just hand wash your dishes.......

BloodyBosch · 15/04/2018 12:05

Amazing Jill, nobody would have thought of that Hmm
If I can make my appliance work, then I would rather do so. Thanks for your flash of inspiration.
