AIBU to push husband to see doctor after he found a lump in scrotum which disappeared a few days later

DH found a small lump in his scrotum last Tuesday. He agreed to see GP on Friday but he couldn't find the lump on Wednesday, or since.

It was tiny, smaller than a pea.

He didn't see the GP as he thought it would be ridiculous given that the lump has gone.

I've pushed him to make an appt next week as I feel it's best to get it checked out.

I think he's just going to pacify me.

I'd push my husband to get it checked too.

Sounds similar to someone I know - if it was a tumour it wouldn’t disappear. It might be a varicose vein, they are common and do come and go, and could cause issues.

Definitely get it checked - better safe than sorry!

pimlicolife · 08/04/2018 07:23

If it's gone then I wouldn't bother.

leghoul · 08/04/2018 07:29

Sounds like a vein perhaps. I would want to be sure it had gone, but IF it has gone I wouldn't worry.

RobinHumphries · 08/04/2018 07:55

If it’s gone I wouldn’t bother - how can the gp check it if there’s nothing to check?

Birdsgottafly · 08/04/2018 08:38

It will be a cyst. Both Men and Women get them.

The only thing a GP can do is send him for an ultrasound, but unless there are other risk factors, he'll probably deem it unnecessary.

He may do a blood count, just as a matter if procedure.

Personally I think its an unnecessary appointment. I've had relatives with TC, to the point were they've had to have their testicle removed.

Schroedingerscatagain · 08/04/2018 08:47

Sounds like a variocele (varicose vein of the testicle) but best to get it checked

beautifulgirls · 08/04/2018 08:58

It cant be wrong can it? At best nothing is found and you are both reassured and will just keep an eye on the situation in case it returns and at worst this is something that needs medical attention in which case going to the GP is the necessary thing to be done and the best chance of a (likely if caught early) good outcome.

I found a lump which disappeared but got it checked out anyway.

The Doctor couldn't find it either but sent me for an ultrasound.

Then it all kicked off!

Anyway, that was in 2010, and thanks to my Urologist, Oncologist, Surgeons and a good dose chemotherapy I am still alive now.

It's statistically overwhelming likely it isn't testicular cancer, but so was mine and it still was, get him checked ASAP and insist on an urgent ultrasound just to put your minds at rest.

my2bundles · 08/04/2018 09:28

IT needs to be checked asap.

AintNobodyHereButUsChickens · 08/04/2018 09:37

My DH found one a while ago, he told me about it 3 weeks after he originally found it Shock it was pea sized and he said it hurt if you fiddled with it too much so I kept badgering him to go to the doctor and he finally did - 2 weeks after he told me about the lump Hmm The GP sent him for a scan and the appointment took another month to arrive! Scan day finally rolled around and they couldn’t actually find it! So he keeps a very close eye (hand?) on it now and I’ve told him he must get it checked out ASAP if it comes back.

My husband had testicular cancer. His lump didn’t disappear. But your DH should still go to the GP to be on the safe side. Ideally he would have an ultrasound but there’s usually a wait even if they do suspect cancer (DH had to make a fuss to get a scan quickly as the GP had refused to make it an urgent referral).
