AIBU to ask for some French grammar help?

I’m writing an email to a French friend, and I’ve asked in the email whether my friend could pass a card onto some other people for me.

I’d like to say ‘could you pass it onto them please’ or ‘could you give it to them please?’ to avoid repeating ‘carte’.

Would it be correct to translate this into French as ‘pourrais-tu la leur passer?’ or ‘pourrais-tu la leur donner?’

I know that, in French, direct object pronouns (‘le’ or ‘la’) come before some indirect object pronouns (e.g. ‘leur’).

I’ve Googled ‘la leur donner’ and ‘la leur passer’ to double-check though, and they haven’t come up on Google, so I’m just wondering it’s something that native French speakers would naturally say?

It would be U to ask me (still muddling through without ever learning the language properly!) but ‘Pourrais-tu la leur donner?’ sounds fine I think. Awaiting more expert replies with interest!

Native speaker here. I’d say ‘Je t’envoie ma carte, tu serais gentille de bien vouloir la faire suivre [or: faire parvenir] à [other people]. Merci d’avance, bisoux, Wellalways’.

Wow @Comeymemo, I would never have figured that out for myself in a million years. I'm at the stage where I can usually understand everything said to me, but when I have to talk (let alone write) I'm never quite sure if everything is correct and sounds OK. Hope the OP gets her email done, the elaborate formality of French emails/ letters has always rather daunted me.

😇 Agustarella, French formalities/niceties can be baffling! Why is it that ‘Yours sincerely ‘ in French is ‘Dans l’attente, je vous prie d’agréer, cher monsieur, l’expression de mes sentiments les plus dévoués et les meilleurs’ ? 🤔 Could we not think of a longer phrase!?

Yes that’s true, although it’s a transliteration from English and used to be frowned upon when I was young. I also see a lot more “Cordialement” nowadays than I did 20 years ago.
