Tapeworm

I promise I'm not a troll (or a poo troll)

I am 34 weeks pregnant and I think I might have a tapeworm. Just passed a movement and there was a white string in it. My tummy was upset over the weekend but I thought nothing of it. Hat is until I saw some white string like thing today.

Does anyone have experience of this? I've made an appt for the doctor but I feel grotty and dirty Sad

Big string or tiny threads?

I've had both tapeworms and threadworms.

Why do you feel dirty? They're just worms. Over the counter stuff will rid you of them.

ohgodalmightywhatnext · 05/04/2018 15:35

They looked like tiny threads and there was a sort of lighter coloured sac I think.

The thought just gives me the heave.

Tiny threads is threadworms.

You need Ovex. Is about £6 and you can buy it over the counter.

ohgodalmightywhatnext · 05/04/2018 15:37

Can I take it when pregnant?

OP posts:
ohgodalmightywhatnext · 05/04/2018 15:38

Did it work for you? I'm paranoid that they're harming the baby - I also should not have gone on Google 🤢

You'd have to ask the pharmacist if you can take it while pregnant. I don't see why not.

Yes, it works.

It's all groovy. We all get them.

ohgodalmightywhatnext · 05/04/2018 15:41

Thanks thequeen

You've put a wormy pregnant lady's mind at rest

And they won't hurt your baby. Different passages.

Although if left untreated they can move to your vagina. But I think that's pretty rare.

bellanotte22 · 05/04/2018 15:41

I don't think you're advised to take while pregnant. I might be wrong. I think they recommend ultra hygiene for a few weeks.

Don't stress, kids get them a lot!

TheQueenOfWands · 05/04/2018 15:43

Honestly, they're just worms. They don't do much. Fuckers itch though.

If they were in your garden you'd think they were cute...

Put your bedding on a nice hot wash though.

ohgodalmightywhatnext · 05/04/2018 15:47

I don't have any itching which makes me think tapeworm instead of threadworm.

OP posts:
TheQueenOfWands · 05/04/2018 15:50

Tapeworms are fat fuckers.

Make you think you're shitting a piece of string. Regular string, not thread.

When is your next scan? Ask them if they can run the scanny thing over your bowel and have a look.

ohgodalmightywhatnext · 05/04/2018 15:51

No more scans as I'm 34 weeks 🙈

I think you need to see a GP, not a pharmacist. You need to figure out what type of worm it is - or even if it's worms at all - before getting treatment.

SluttyButty · 05/04/2018 15:53

Threadworms are easy for us hoomans to get. I've just had to worm my dog because she had them (the other worming tablet I used didn't work). So obviously I'm now waiting for one of us to have them.

TheQueenOfWands · 05/04/2018 15:53

Shame.

Would've been a nice picture for your baby book. The Wormy Twin..!

ohgodalmightywhatnext · 05/04/2018 15:54

Are they easy to pick up? I don't want to ask anyone in case they think I can't keep myself clean Grin

OP posts:
GrannyGrissle · 05/04/2018 15:56

For heavens sake get this sorted before you give birth. The last thing you want is for a worm to crown before your baby Grin

MereDintofPandiculation · 05/04/2018 15:57

They're easy to pick up especially if you come into contact with children.

ohgodalmightywhatnext · 05/04/2018 15:57

😩😩😩😩 granny

I'm having a section. Maybe they could just have a rummage

OP posts:
TheQueenOfWands · 05/04/2018 15:57

Yes! So, SO easy to pick up.

They're everywhere.

Think of them as butthole nits. We all get them. Especially if we own children.

ohgodalmightywhatnext · 05/04/2018 15:58

I do own a 4 year old Grin

OP posts:
MooseBeTimeForSnow · 05/04/2018 15:59

Eaten any bean sprouts recently?

TheQueenOfWands · 05/04/2018 16:00

The 4 year old will be the culprit.

They will need to be de-wormed.

Kids are grim really, aren't they?

Jamhandprints · 05/04/2018 16:00

Tape worm is very rare in this country I think. But threadworms are common. You need to shower every morning as soon as you wake up, change bedding and PJs and hoover your room every day for 2 weeks (supposed to be 6 weeks but who can manage that!) Eat pumpkin seeds and garlic. X
