To ask how someone sets up a successful corporate film making company?

Sorry posting for traffic.
My bf is really struggling and I've got no idea how to help him.
He wants to make corporate film, has a film making degree and has been making some films for clients while working in bars etc to make ends meet.
He seems to have no idea how to market himself, how to set up a contract, how to plan his time to get jobs done by the deadline etc around his other commitments. He is dyslexic and is getting some help through the prince's Trust about organisational skills for small businesses, but nothings really happened yet.

He just seems so at sea and I've no idea what to say - he's exhausted from working long hours in the service industry and while clearly having talent as the films he makes are good, needs to do something differently and I've got no idea what he should do. Can anyone offer any advice I can pass on to him? Thank you Flowers

Does he have a website / portfolio demonstrating his work? Is he on any form of social media?

My advice would be before starting his own business he should try working for a corporate production company and learn some skllls. He will need experience to have a chance of getting hired

Hi, I run a production company. Very well established. It's tough at the moment - very very competitive.

He needs a great showreel and website. Tthen he needs to get himself out there. But tbh I'd recommend he start working for other production companies to build up his experience and his reel. Most people wouldn't go it alone straight away.

Could he get experience of working to deadlines etc by working for an established corporate film making company? He could make contacts and find out how the business works and figure out if running his own business is something he can do.

Does anyone have any advice about making a free lance film maker contract?

I’d work for a company first, make contacts and get a showreel from that. DH has his own business in a creative field, he worked as an employee for 7 years before going freelance and had already made a name for himself within the industry. It really helped as he had work straightaway. I would also recommend saving 3 months of salary as there will be a delay before invoices are paid.

As in producing and pitching for investment?
