Posting for traffic.

I have thick hair and it gets greasy quite quickly after washing. What shampoo can you recommend to make your hair shine and smell good?

DD1 has very thick curly hair but it’s greasy at the roots after one day. Both Ginger and Tea Tree from Body Shop are excellent and smell divine.

MiffyIsMiffed · 04/04/2018 22:24

Big shampoo from Lush. Amazing stuff.

Welshmaenad · 04/04/2018 22:25

Rosemary shampoo and conditioner by Avalon Organics, or Mane N Tail.

Pecano · 04/04/2018 22:27

New Wash from HairStory - it’s a “natural cleanser” rather than shampoo/conditioner so gentler. My hair is in much better condition since I started using it, and it doesn’t get greasy as quickly. I used to was it everyday and now I can go 3-4 days between washing!

Just to mention that it might not be a matter of changing shampoo - have you had your hormone levels checked?

AgnesBrownsCat · 05/04/2018 10:54

Tesco head and shoulders .

trqintracks · 05/04/2018 11:04

Another vote for shampoo bars from Lush. I have lots of very thick hair that gets greasy easily and I love it.
They have one for all hair types.

CluedoAddict · 05/04/2018 11:28

I have used Tresemme for years. I have greasy hair. My new hairdresser says Tresemme is not good for hair. I have changed to Alberto Balsam.

pinotnoirismyjam · 05/04/2018 11:37

I second Big shampoo (or Jersey Bounce) from Lush - the sea salt is good for flaky scalp too. If you ask they should give you a sample to try.

alltoomuchrightnow · 05/04/2018 11:42

Big by Lush. It's all I can use on my fine, thin greasy hair. It means I can now wash every other day.

thatmustbenigelwiththebrie · 05/04/2018 11:43

I use Pantene.

Every hairdresser I've ever had has said how terrible Pantene is. But then they always say I have lovely, thick, shiny hair so it can't be that bad!

I buy it because it's cheap. A huge bottle in Home Bargains is about £3.

HildaZelda · 05/04/2018 11:50

I switch between L'oreal fibrology and Herbal Essences, the green one. Tresseme conditioner or else an almond one I picked up in the pound shop that smells like marzipan.

MargoLovebutter · 05/04/2018 11:57

The Alberto range of shampoos are flipping fantastic. Really gentle, no parabens, give a great lather, no residue and only £1 per bottle. I loooooooooooove them.

Andromeida59 · 05/04/2018 12:05

I use Suma Rose and Geranium shampoo. Smells amazing, my hair is the healthiest it's ever been and it's got rid of my dandruff. No nasty chemicals and it's organic. Also, if you buy the larger 5l bottles it works out really cheap.

ToadOfSadness · 05/04/2018 12:13

Avalon Organics Lemon Clarifying shampoo. I have greasy roots and most shampoos seem to smell like personal hygiene products or fly killer.

I alternate with Mane and Tail shampoo which has surprisingly few ingredients.

snurfflepots · 05/04/2018 12:33

Mane and Tail Shampoo and Conditioner is life changing for fine, greasy hair!

Kim82 · 05/04/2018 12:39

I alternate between Aussie miracle moist, Pantene and L’Oreal. They all leave my hair nice and shiny.

Ollivander84 · 05/04/2018 13:45

None Grin but I wash it with shea moisture conditioner or Aldi tea tree conditioner

Klarabing · 05/04/2018 13:57

Aussie mega shampoo... used it for years and never need to alternate with another shampoo. The only time i use anything different is i use the mini bottles of aussie miracle moist shampoo if i am away for a few days.

FizzingWhizzbee · 05/04/2018 14:36

Another vote for SLS free - getting rid of them from my shampoo has made an enormous difference to my hair (nowhere as greasy at the roots) and my scalp (no flakes). Honestly, it was like a miracle. It's been 6 years now, and I'm still amazed.

Orangecake123 · 05/04/2018 14:38

Aussie.

LadyFlangeWidget · 05/04/2018 14:45

KERASTASE- not sure you can get this in the uk but its brilliant stuff, the antidandruff shampoo, the conditioning mask and the anti dry scalp capsules. Got it from the italian hairdressers. ..

JaceLancs · 05/04/2018 14:49

I alternate between Dove and Herbal Essences

I have a different hair type to you so I wouldn't recommend a specific product, but my absolute favourite brands for haircare are Aveda and Liz Earle. I've never had a bad product from either of those. Having said that, they are at the pricier end of the scale, and I only have to wash my hair once or twice a week so maybe I'd be buying something else if I needed to wash it daily!
