Shitting myself about haemorrhoid removal surgery

Last Friday morning I woke up with two horrendous haemorrhoids. They appeared all of a sudden and are so big they look like testicles. I struggled over Easter holiday applying cream, warm baths etc but they are now agonising. Sharp pains shooting through them, constant pain, they have swollen over my entire bum. Out of desperation i went to GP yesterday who had a look. She wanted to do internal examination but they're so big she said she wouldn't get her finger past them without causing too much pain. She's given me suppositories and cream and has given me until Friday to get rid, if they're still there then, it will be surgery.

I'm shitting myself. I'm currently off work sick with anxiety and depression induced psychosis and the thought of this is making me want to do a runner.

Has anyone had it done?

I'm sorry I don't have any advice, but I'm really suffering with them too. It's bloody horrible, and I am sending you Flowers
I'm watching replies with interest as I'm going to need surgery once I'm no longer breastfeeding.
I hope someone comes along with a positive story!

I'm currently six months in trying to suppress.
Fucking agony combined with a week of fanny daggers every month.
The shooting pains are enough to crumple me in agony.

I think I need the mesh Sad

I had an operation to remove them, around 25 years ago. It really wasn’t as bad as I feared - quite painful when I came round, but no more than expected. So please don’t worry - in those days, hospitals kept you in for longer, but I was still out after a couple of days - and back to work after 2 weeks.

Hope this reassures you!

Touch wood and thank God I've not had them. Probably something I've got to look forward to.(excuse my dark humour).
However I just want to offer you my hand to hold, and I have been put under general anesthetic for a c/section. Im not going to tell you not worry. My God I was terrified going down to have DD. I won't say what about as I dont want to put more fears into your head but the anetheist had to come and talk to me. I could have stayed awake but I couldn't stand the thought of knowing they were cutting into me. However before I knew it is was all over. That's what you'll be like.

Any operation is painful when you first come round. That's absolutely normal

Ledderwoman · 04/04/2018 12:33

I'm in agony, I don't know what to do :-( feel sick with the pain. If I last until Friday how long before I actually get the op done? I'm starting to see why people seek out prescription meds illegally. If I could get hold of some tramadol right now I wouldn't think twice

Leder it's brutal. I spend hours in the bath soaking in Epsom smoking joints and have three suppositories, a cream and an ointment plus a spray.
I have to sleep on my front and bleed constantly. One of mine are thrombosed too.

I'm not afraid of the op I'm afraid of the mesh.

Ledderwoman · 04/04/2018 12:42

I'm puffing like hell on my e-cig wishing it had heroin cannabis in it.

Will they really leave me like this for weeks/months until an op date comes through or is it pretty quick?

Which op? I had my huge, grade 4 ones banded. They've not gone, and I'll need them doing again but it really really helped. I didn't want the lazer or the mesh.

TheQueef · 04/04/2018 12:44

I think it depends on internal or external and banding. Some don't do banding.

toasterstrudle · 04/04/2018 13:34

I had them in pregnancy, it was the sorest thing I experienced, including recovery from a c section! Luckily in the end they went of their own accord, but I would say if they done 100% go for the surgery. Nothing can be worse than the pain of a thrombosed hemorrhoid! Also ask your GP for 'instillagel' to apply topically until they go - it's a topical anaesthetic and the only thing that helped me.

toasterstrudle · 04/04/2018 13:34

*if they don't go, 100% have the surgery

Namechangemum100 · 04/04/2018 13:39

What kind of op is it? Are they being lanced in the surgery?

If so, whilst I won't lie, it's very painful, you will have IMMEDIATE relief and therefore 100% worth it. I have had to do it 3 times following terrible constipation in pregnancy. It's not fun, but the agony of thombosed piles day in day out is far worse. You will be fine.

My husband had it done. It was painful afterward until he got numbing cream but he's glad it was done.

My suggestions would be a donut cushion to sit on at the moment. And one of those stools for going to the toilet.
