To ask for ways to make taking a shower more fun?

So my shower is around 15min, bloody boring, shampoo, conditioner, scrub etc etc, and I don't like taking a shower at all, but have to do it every day, obviously. It is especially difficult after gym, when I am tired.

Does anyone do anything to make the shower time more entertaining? Something to look forward to rather than a stupid chore?

but have to do it every day, obviously - well you certainly don't need conditioner, face scrub, body scrub or shaving every day. that'll cut the whole thing in half at least.

TattyFrench · 03/04/2018 22:23

How strange! Why do you need to be entertained? What happens when you do the washing up? Laundry? Vacuuming? Just get on with it ffs. You don't actually have to spend 15 minutes poncing about in the shower - you could just get in, wash, get out. Carry on with your day.
I do wonder if you're the product of a generation that grew up with phones/tablets etc and feel you need constant distraction/entertainment. Can you eat a meal without staring at a screen?

Lockheart · 03/04/2018 22:25

Are you so unable to go 15 mins without being bored? Confused Not everything has to be all singing all dancing. But I'm not best placed to comment to be honest, as given free reign I could easily stand under lovely hot water for hours. I love showers. When I win the lottery I am building a disgustingly extravagant shower room.

I'd say don't condition your hair or shave every day, and cut those showers down to 5 mins max.

I wash (get a scrubby poof thing for your body and a flannel for your face; exfoliate and wash at the same time) and shampoo in under 5 mins. If I need to shave legs it's still under 10. Armpits take 5 seconds.

No wonder you are bored OP- who still uses a shower? It's not the 1970s, no one has the attention span to just run water over themselves in order to get clean.

I bathe by bungee jumping off a nearby bridge each morning. Of course I play laser tag at the same time to make it a bit more interesting.

eggcellent · 03/04/2018 22:27

Washing and scrubbing your face in the shower is a horrendous waste of water.

Give me a break, honestly... OP YABVU to shave. In fact, do you really NEED to wash your hair? Any longer than 15 seconds in the shower and you are solely responsible for global warming.

Enidblyton1 · 03/04/2018 22:27

Seriously, I think you're washing too much!!
Cut out the face scrubs etc, do a quick hair and body wash and cut time in the shower down to 5 minutes max. Spend the 10 minutes you save doing something much more fun (and probably have better skin...)

mummyrabbitpeppapig · 03/04/2018 22:28

Navi type shower, turn shower on. Get in. Get wet. Turn shower off. Use bar soap and lather on. Turn shower back on. Rinse. Get out. Get dried. Job done ( and saves on water and electricity - saving you money and saving the environment- go you! )

Alabasterangel6 · 03/04/2018 22:32

15 minutes of being bored sounds like absolute heaven to me. Oh the vacuous day dreaming I could do....

I can’t remember the last time I had 5 minutes to be bored let alone 15.

Notso · 03/04/2018 22:38

I listen to The Archers or the 15 min drama on I player.

Evie0865 · 03/04/2018 22:42

If you don’t like taking showers every day stop hanging about in it for 15 bloody minutes 😂

I wash my hair, shave, the works, all in 5.

Some of these comments make me LOL tho

user1487175389 · 03/04/2018 22:44

Considering all the stuff you do in there, I'm surprised you have time to be bored.

Try mindfulness?

yasmin0147 · 03/04/2018 22:45

Take your partner in too? Lol or put on the radio I don’t think showering is supposed to be the highlight of ones day but you can mix it up a bit I suppose

HopefullyAnonymous · 03/04/2018 22:47

I love a good hot shower. 5 mins alone with my thoughts in peace and quiet. Not boring at all!

RachelTeeth · 03/04/2018 22:49

Have an episode of something trashy —Jeremy Kyle— playing to listen to, or an audiobook. And a magazine to lean over and read while putting body cream on afterwards/waiting for anti perspirant to dry.

You don’t need to exfoliate and shave everyday, fuck me, give your skin a chance to try to replenish itself before scrubbing it off every day. Soap cleans better than gel. Soap armpits etc while shampoo works for a minute, rinse, puffball and soap the rest. Done.

RachelTeeth · 03/04/2018 22:50

Some people have good reason to absolutely not want to be alone with their thoughts, and that’s ok.

Have a small child. It'll cut shower time down to 2 minutes and you get to spend the whole time playing peekaboo with an angry 1 year old in a cot.

HeedMove · 03/04/2018 23:13

You really shouldn't be exfoliating your skin every day it's bad for it..2-3 times a week at most. Do you need to wash and condition your hair every day..I'd stick a shower cap on and wear it up the second day. That will then cut drying and styling time down surely that bores you too.

TheDogAndDogAtCrutchley · 04/04/2018 03:26

Are you depressed? Because then having a shower might seem very difficult and energy draining. Otherwise this is a strange question.

liminality · 04/04/2018 03:36

You wash AND scrub your face AND body with four separate products? And shampoo and condition hair every day?
I use one type of lovely soap, good enough for face and body. Don't need to shave every day. Wash hair once a week.
And don't 'just kind of stand there under the hot water'. Just get in and get it done - 2 minutes - 5 on hair day max

freshstart24 · 04/04/2018 14:14

Everyone is different!

If my hair is not washed at least every other day it is a vile greasy ness. I've tried every shampoo- string and gentle and have tried leaving it but all to no avail, I have greasy hair end of. It's also quite long (was greasy When shorter). So I need to hair wash daily and it takes a good few minutes to lather and rinse, plus condition and rinse.

So this plus a leg and pit shave most days and a good wash head to toe takes a while.

I'd love to be in and out in 5 minutes but it's not doable.
