As it's poisonous to dogs I hope you don't.... But resisting that face must be tough Wink

HuskyMcClusky · 03/04/2018 11:57

She’s a big dog, so a little piece of milk choc wouldn’t do her much harm. The bloody face, though!

I have put my dog's Easter egg in a high kitchen cupboard. He sits staring at the cupboard and crying as he's only allowed a little piece at a time. It's pitiful!

sirlee66 · 03/04/2018 11:59

I bought my pup a little doggy Easter egg from pets at home! She bloody loved it!

KinkyAfro · 03/04/2018 12:34

Sorry but I wouldn't be giving any dog chocolate, in any amount. Don't see why you would?

*With the exception of special doggy eggs

AnneProtheroe · 03/04/2018 12:35

Dog eggs Grin

scampimom · 03/04/2018 12:37

That dog (like all dogs) is clearly NEVER FED, and his only hope of survival is that bit of chocolate/sausage roll/sandwich/whatever you happen to be eating.

It is poisonous though - best give him something else to stop him from fainting dead away Smile

Mydoghatesthebath · 03/04/2018 12:37

Gorgeous doggie. No choc though

LifeBeginsAtGin · 03/04/2018 12:39

a bit wont hurt, so yes you would BU not give your last piece

BitOutOfPractice · 03/04/2018 12:42

That's the face of a dog that's not been fed a scrap of food for weeks and is likely to faint clean away unless they get whatever it is you're eating Grin

PositivelyPERF · 03/04/2018 12:45

I’m a dog sitter. I’m surrounded by at LEAST six sad faces when I put ANYTHING in my mouth! Hard as nails, me! 🤨😁

Aprilmightmemynewname · 03/04/2018 12:45

Before such knowledge was known (about 30 years ago!) my childhood rottweiler ate about 8 whole Easter eggs complete with boxes and never so much as burped. All the doors in our house were push ones and she had gotten into my bedroom!!
I remember I sobbed!!
Strangely our rotty now just has to hear a box of Maltesers and she is there. No other sweets just them. She has 2 then goes away!!

HuskyMcClusky · 03/04/2018 12:46

She is definitely starving to death, and never fed anything nice at all. Poor hound. (Easter Grin)

Went on a walk on Saturday and someone had a bag of creme eggs. The look on his dogs face was heart rending as he gave them out. And he'd forgotten her treats.

Gide · 03/04/2018 12:55

The toxic stuff in chocolate has a cumulative effect, so saying it won’t harm is not correct. Dogs react differently, I know of one dog who died after eating one grape, yet others who eaten whole packets and survived. I personally would not risk my dog.

Notevilstepmother · 03/04/2018 12:57

That poor starving doggy Grin Nobody feeds me ever

Miss mine so much. Thanks for sharing the lovely picture.

LinoleumBlownapart · 03/04/2018 12:58

You are pure cruelty on two legs, how could you be so cruel? That poor half starved dog! Grin

Notevilstepmother · 03/04/2018 12:59

I was told by the vet (after the late DDog snaffled chocolate) that is is weight and chocolate strength related. So a big dog eating a little white or milk chocolate isn’t a disaster, but a small dog and dark chocolate is.

There is a table somewhere of weight and amount of chocolate that says if it’s an emergency or not.

blaaake · 03/04/2018 13:02

She's gorgeous!! I've finally learned my lesson with my two (golden retriever and black lab) they BEG for chocolate whenever I have it but they've thrown up in my kitchen too many times now Envy

Unfortunately DD2 is a pushover and spoils themHmm

Joanna57 · 03/04/2018 13:02

My Rottie used to have a 2 finger KitKat every single day.

He lived to the ripe old age of 11 with hardly a days illness.

Well hard he was :)

Notevilstepmother · 03/04/2018 13:03

This will tell people if they need to panic or not.

I don’t recommend feeding dogs chocolate but if they do get their paws on it it’s useful to know.

KC225 · 03/04/2018 13:04

Ok. I am going to do it and state he obvious.

How many times a day do you put your head to one side and ask 'So babes, why the long face?'

anxious2017 · 03/04/2018 13:05

It's size of dog and percentage of cocoa related.

My old, very large breed dog once ate seven chocolate oranges, five selection boxes, three tins of Roses and one very expensive box of handmade champagne truffles (and a Lush Box). She'd broken through three doors and a baby gate to do so.

Her only symptoms of anything untoward were sparkly shits from the foil wrappers.

HuskyMcClusky · 03/04/2018 13:08

KC225 🤣

Joanna, when we were kids, we used to give our dog milk chocolate Freddo Frogs all the time! And she was about a quarter the size of this dog. We had no idea. 😮. She lived to 16, though.
