To be panicking right now?

My kids are at their dads and my ds age 9 has just sent me a picture of my ds age 5, just messing around, but I'm now panicking...

I've cropped the picture so it's not identifying, but am I right to be worried about this? Has anyone had pictures like this before and it not been caused by anything bad?

To be panicking right now?

@EveningHare my apologies, it’s my own guilt at not getting a faster diagnosis for DS. You’re absolutely right, it’s so, so unlikely to be anything serious.

EveningHare · 02/04/2018 18:26

@BangingOn no worries xx

We spend our lives full of guilt and regret for things we did/shouldn't have done

You're not a Dr, (guessing) and I'm sure you did all you could when you could x

GreenTulips · 02/04/2018 18:35

Our opticians had a camera that takes a pic if the eye and shows you in screen

It was a 2 second job - weird but quick

Worth asking local optitian of they have a machine?

BangingOn · 02/04/2018 19:28

Thanks EveningHare Flowers

Ansumpasty · 02/04/2018 19:52

I took a picture like this of my son and felt as worried as you do. Took him straight the GP who hadn’t even heard of it and was very rude and dismissive.
I took him to an optician and all was fine. I would go to vision express tomorrow. It’s very, very unlikely to be anything but put your mind at rest.

Fruitcorner123 · 02/04/2018 20:13

Could you ring round all the local opticians tomorrow to see if they have any urgent appointments? It doesnt have to be your usual optician in this case and you can always keep Thursday's appointment roo for a second opinion.

I, too, have never heard of this and would have just assumed its red eye from the camera flash so this thread has educated me.

BettyBaggins · 03/04/2018 18:09

How did it go op?

Ceirrno · 03/04/2018 18:50

His appointment is Thursday at 9 x he's seeing a more senior optician than he could've before then and he looked at the pictures when I went to book it.

Hope it goes ok on Thurs

BettyBaggins · 03/04/2018 19:29

Super, sounds like the best option. Good luck and let us know how it goes. Flowers

Schnauzermum2 · 03/04/2018 19:30

I’ve got a few pictures like this over the years. I suffer from severe anxiety about my sons health (long story) but have taken him to opticians a few times who have done a through check of his eyes inc back of eyes. It’s usually caused by the flash not hitting both eyes squarely. By all means get it checked out for your peace of mind, but if such pictures are few and far between it’s prob just the angle of the flash

Ceirrno · 05/04/2018 09:59

So so relieved... Everything's fine, they did the test differently to usual and were absolutely amazing with DS and they're certain that nothing is wrong.

I'm so pleased I got it checked though and they agreed it we completely the right thing to do and they were relieved themselves.
