Girls Just Wanna Have Fun

Caravan of Love-The Housemartins. But by god this was a hard question to answer OP!

Awks · 01/04/2018 22:34

Come live with me - heaven 17

MrsMaxwell · 01/04/2018 22:37

Also Lotus Eaters ❤️

starfleet · 01/04/2018 22:44

Far too many to mention....the 80's were my informative musical years!

Definitely includes "Say Hello Wave Goodbye" by Soft Cell though. I saw Marc Almond play live recently and he was amazing - he played that right at the end.

HaroldsSoCalledBluetits · 01/04/2018 23:00

Yay more Mighty Wah! fans. I love that song. Pete Wylie is a legend.

Love loads already mentioned - it was a great decade for music. I think what gets me about it is how many different styles there were, often running concurrently. I mean, you had the back end of punk, new wave, new romantic, goth, indie, hair rock, smooth soul, rap, dance, all in the space of ten years.

Others I love - the killing moon, as already mentioned. Hide and seek - Howard Jones. Party fears two - the associates. Boops here to go - sly and Robbie. And one that never fails to get me dancing - you spin me round by dead or alive.

World leader pretend - R.E.M.

The line ‘This is my mistake, let me make it good’ was directly relevant to a relationship I was in at the time, which I knew was a mistake, and which ended very badly, but which I will never regret, despite all the pain it caused.

eridanus · 02/04/2018 00:21

cutting crew - I just died in your arms tonight

eridanus · 02/04/2018 00:22

And another vote for
aha - take on me

But I am going to have a good day gathering all the song titles I have not heard (or just can't remember!) and listen to them again. The best music was the eighties music.

eridanus · 02/04/2018 00:23

cantstopfuckingeating · 02/04/2018 00:33

@TheDogHasEatenIt I always say that to my dh
We won't ever have that era of music again... ever!!! Robbie Williams? Take that, maybe boy zone, destiny's child etc are perhaps the last of those memorable artists who really impacted our lives.
Like where will you get the likes of Bowie, George Michael, queen, Elton ever again??? Makes me so sad to look at the shite they are spouting out now
My dd loves johnny cash and GM... she doesn't even know who little mix are thank fuck and I plan to keep it that way as long as possible!!

MyfanwyMontez · 02/04/2018 00:34

LakieLady · 02/04/2018 09:24

I was going to suggest the Undertones, Teenage Kicks, but I thought I'd better check the date and was shocked to discover that it was actually released in the 70s. I'm clearly older than I realised. So my contribution is:

Peter Gabriel - Sledgehammer

Hold Me Now - Thompson Twins

Poison Arrow - ABC

FreakOfNature · 02/04/2018 09:32

I think we're alone now - Tiffany
Heaven is a place on Earth / Belinda Carlisle
Joe Le Taxi - Vanessa Paradis

80's tracks were made for belting out with a hairbrush 🙈

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 02/04/2018 11:26

Propaganda - Duel

HaroldsSoCalledBluetits · 02/04/2018 16:48

@Lakielady you could have Wednesday Week by the Undertones - released in the summer of 1980.
