There's an activity in a local park that offers £18 a head with food but the food is shit

£10 without food. It's in a park... I'm thinking picnic

But with today's weather... at the end of September... would you risk it?

Yes. That's all the fun of a British summer. all the seasons in one day Grin

planningpartyfreak · 30/03/2018 16:56

I suppose worst case scenario I send them all home early with food in a picnic box... best case, they play in the park

You're allowed to pitch up 20 kids for a picnic? Or do you have to get some sort of permit??

Could you go home for food afterwards, or to a fast food restaurant? Presumably it's a kids birthday party? In pouring rain will the activity itself be cancelled?

If it's pouring hard all day you would be unreasonable to stick to a picnic without shelter. Different if the weather is changeable sunshine and showers on the day.

Is a picnic as plan A and retreat to burger king or similar or back to yours as plan B an option?

You can definitely spread out blankets and picnic food for 20 in a park. Don't think you'd be allowed to put up a marquee though Grin

I've been to bigger picnics than 20 in a park. No BBQs though

September is usually nice weather, it rains for the whole school holidays & then the sun comes out in September when they go back!
If you do decide to go for it you need a back up plan

Dangerousmonkey · 30/03/2018 17:06

Pitch a gazebo

Dangerousmonkey · 30/03/2018 17:12

And yes. Putting up temporary shelter is fine. If you have any concerns you could email the park team for confirmation.
I once had a three course dinner with friends in a park. As long as you're not selling anything and not staying not being a nuisance not preventing access the nightyou're basicallyok. As for non party people. They may try to buy cake from you or laugh (discreetly) at your eccentricity

Wide0penSpace · 30/03/2018 17:15

Take a gazebo in case it rains. September's usually lovely.

planningpartyfreak · 30/03/2018 17:21

It's indoor activity but then into park for a picnic I was hoping to get away with

Or maybe I should do it the other way round and have picnic first after school nearer to us then onto activity?

Bugger. Latest they do after school is 4.30 so wouldn't have time to picnic and get there. Will have to do a weekend!
