Lollipops and children

A big bug near or mine is seeing children running around with a lollipop in their mouth. I do actually see it happen a lot and it's just so dangerous. Maybe I'm over invested/ott (happy to be told that I am) but it scares me whenever I see it happen.

Aibu to think that parents who allow their children to run about with a lollipop in their mouth are a bit, well... stupid?!

YANBU. Theyre basically a hard boiled sweet on a stick. My mum almost chocked on a lollipop when she was 11.

I'm exactly the same, Npcuts.

I always made my small children sit down when they had lollipops (and rarely got them, but they do turn up in party bags etc).

I can't remember when I stopped doing that - probably when they were old enough to go out by themselves and a lot of regulation of what they did had to swop from my policing to their understanding. Also, by then they were much less likely to have the random bumps and falls of younger childhood

YANBU

I thought I was over-reacting as no one else seems that bothered, but I have the same rule! My kids have to sit down to eat anything, sweets or other anyway, I don't like mindless snacking, but lollipops seem lethal.

My DS is 3, and I don't allow him to have lollipops for all the reasons above. He has autism and little understanding, so it's definitely better to be safe than sorry. If he's given one I just put it in his bag, and not make a big deal of him not being allowed one.
