Is Thomas sabo worth the money ?

Really like some of the jewellery but think the prices are crazy for what is just sterling silver. Can anyone recommend any online jewlers that are similar style? I noticed when certain brand jewellery comes up people get really snobby and suggest to go independent

Nope Flowers

CatHelp · 29/03/2018 21:35

No way. Every piece I have had has broke in some way. It is poor.

I prefer Links of London

BarryTheKestrel · 29/03/2018 21:36

I was given one of the charm bracelets for my 18th. 10 years on I can count the number of times I've worn it on my fingers. I'm not really a bracelet person but it's also not great jewellery. However I have a Thomas Sabo ring, also a gift, that I love.
Depends what it is you're after really. Definitely worth seeing it in person too as I find some of it does look completely different on the website to in real life.

I love Stephen Einhorn's silver charms, buy online or at the London store.

Moominfan · 29/03/2018 21:58

I really like some of their Aztec stuff but I can't see how the price is justified.

Thomas Sabo stuff often comes up on Brand Alley much cheaper. I like Silver by Mail for fashion jewellery.

I have found bits in independent shops at great prices and love a rummage for costume jewellery in antique shops.

Flamingo84 · 29/03/2018 22:19

I like the huge range of designs and charms that Thomas Sabo has. There are so many to choose from it feels like you can mix and match a bit better than other similar brands.

However I do find that they aren’t the easiest to wear everyday. The bracelet charms all dangle quite a bit which I find annoying. I spend most days at a computer and they clank against the desk all the time! I also had one of their cord bracelets and it unraveled really quickly and did so repeatedly.

I find pandora’s charms much more wearable if you’re looking for something to have on every day.

If you like quirky pieces that are a bit different and won’t break the bank, I like Not on the High Street’s jewellery. There’s also a range called Dew which can be found online (I think Amazon even sells some of their stuff).

NeedsAsockamnesty · 29/03/2018 22:47

If it’s charms, then the attaching clips break frequently and often initially not so you would notice somehow the hook bit gets smaller so after a whilst the charm either flys off and you don’t notice or the entire clip bit falls to bits, the enamel also comes off if you actually wear them it comes off quickly in chunks my bracelet that one of my kids got me for Christmas looks years old and at least 7 charms on it have lost all but a tiny bit of colour and so far I’ve had to get clips replaced on 10 charms and I have another two waiting to go back to the jewellers for repair it’s also always the £70+ charms that do it not the cheaper ones.
I am not heavy handed nor do I do anything manual not even housework ever. Once I have got the baby to sleep I shall post a picture so you know what I mean

I have two necklaces, four rings and a few pairs of earrings, had most of them years and they still look as new and have never broken. I have no complaints about quality, and it doesn’t look like cheap tat.

I love their quirky designs but due to cost I pick the stuff that is timeless and not just in fashion at that particular time. My favourite is my little swallow necklace and my heart ring DS got me for mother’s day, I wear them practically every day and they haven’t tarnished or broke, so definitely worth the money IMO.

KanielOutis · 29/03/2018 23:04

How about Tiffany? I have a silver return to Tiffany bracelet and I don't even take it off to sleep. It is chunky and goes with everything.

Katedotness1963 · 29/03/2018 23:11

I've had it for years with absolutely no problems. MN hates this kind of thing though, not as badly as Pandora, but if you can make someone feel like crap over something they own, it's a gift to some on here. Personally, "I don't get it"...Hmm

Katedotness1963 · 29/03/2018 23:12

I got a Tiffany necklace for my 25th anniversary. Tarnished to fuck, nothing I've tried has cleaned it!

The duck is meant to be totally yellow.

And as I said it was a Christmas gift this year I think that’s fairly quick damage, I also have a rabbit in a top hat where the same thing has happened

TrollTheRespawnJeremy · 30/03/2018 01:33

Katedot- take it to a jewellers for a polish. Necklaces are really hard to polish because it's hard to get and around links. We put it in a machine that basically shoogles the dirt off at a bazillion wiggles a second.

(The math is wrong but the science is right.)

Doodlebug5 · 30/03/2018 01:39

I've got a nominations charm bracelet and I love it. It's just very fiddly

Moominfan · 30/03/2018 09:22

Thank you for all the suggestions some really mixed opinions. I've never understood the animosity for Pandora! It's bizarre

CheekyRedhead · 30/03/2018 09:35

Tiffany will clean jewellery for you if you take it in. Had my bracelet done a couple of times.
I like Theo Fennel for silver jewellery too.
I've got a links bracelet I never wear.
Hate Pandora with a passion.

BexleyRae · 30/03/2018 09:35

I've got 2 Pandora bracelets, I love them as each charm was a present.
I don't understand people's negativity about them, but I just ignore and follow my own unfashionable choices!
Bazillion wiggles shoogles Grin perfect science application

BexleyRae · 30/03/2018 09:37

Ugh I mean Bazillion wiggles and shoogles troll

BarryTheKestrel · 31/03/2018 14:46

I have one of the wiggly machines at home to clean jewellery. DH bought it for his hobby equipment but all my jewellery gets a good clean once a month or so and all looks much better for it! Definitely recommend getting any jewellery properly cleaned.

Sock I'd be taking those charms back. That's awful tarnishing in 4 months!

Pattygonia · 31/03/2018 14:54

Alex Monroe. Or Michael Michaud.

Or buy antique/secondhand - for best price via an auction.
