Neighbours daughter playing loud music

I live next door to an elderly woman, she's quiet and keeps herself to herself which suits me as I have social anxiety.

The problem is her daughter lives with her and has just come back from 6 months of travelling, her daughter is in her 50's and she plays the loudest music all through the day and at night.

It's all day a thumping banging music and my children's bedroom is next to hers, the music doesn't stop until 10-11pm every night so they struggle to sleep because it's so loud.

What would you do? It's really causing us disruption now especially my children and I sometimes have to have the tv so loud because her music has a thumping base to it meaning I can nearly hear it when it's on.

Have you spoken to either of them? If that doesn't work, report it to the council. I think it's still classed as a noise nuisance if it's loud and constant. Query it with them.

You knock on the door right away and tell them not to do it. The longer you leave it, the more they will think it's OK.

What did she say when you told her about it?
If you haven't tackled her on it yet then do so today.
Tell her what you've put here.
Ask her when she's in her bedroom late at night, could she please use headphones.
If she takes no notice then you need to get on to the council.

Go and speak to her first, hopefully that will sort it. If that doesn't work speak to environmental health at the council.

I assume you've asked her to turn it down? She won't know that it's a problem if you don't tell her!

My neighbours were drilling into our shared wall at 10.30 last night so I went round and asked them politely to stop as it was coming through quite loud. They stopped, no drama - simple!

you ask. If ignored (and people like this will ignore, no decent person does this and she is clearly too thick for the concept of headphones) you start a nuisance diary and contact the council noise team.

it takes ages so don't wait.
