WHY Cant she take her dog for a walk!!!!

HumptyD93 · 28/03/2018 21:34

We live on a dirt track road with terraced houses up either side. There is a space further up the road where everyone parks their cars. When dh is at work I put a rotary airer in our space to dry our washing.

Last year a girl moved into a rented house. The day she moved in we found dog poo on the road right outside our house. We have cctv due to previous neighbours threatening us, which showed her dog poo and her not pick it up. Dh knocked on her door and explained her dog had pooed and could she please pick it up. She denied it was hers, he pointed to cctv and said as it was literally on our doorstep we could see clearly that it was her dog.

Her dog is constantly weeing on our doorstep and has also weed on my washing bag full of washing as I was hanging it up, my airer and even on my son's leg!!!
NOT once has she apologised but has said "well I can't help where he wees" Dh (sometime last year) said "yes you can you can put it on a lead and take it for a walk" (seriously we live 1 min away from a field/grassy area and 5 min walk takes you to the moors its not difficult)

And today...Yet again we've walked outside to a wee trail on our step.... its horrible as it is but come summer it 1) stinks!!! and 2) we cant sit on the step if we wanted to watch the kids playing out (we don't have gardens)

What more can we do??? we've asked her not to let it wee all over the step/airer/washing/child and it seems to go in one ear and out the other. She literally opens her door....dog goes out and does business and then it goes back in.

Are we really that unreasonable to expect someone to put their dog on a lead to stop it weeing all over our property (and my child!!!) Is it really too much to ask?

tell her yiur sendinng cctv to the council. im sure it will stop where i live they give 500 fines for this.

Scentofwater · 28/03/2018 21:37

Pee on her doorstep?

Not really, but I can’t think of anything else you can do. Maybe put a fence up?

Yanbu though!

Yarboosucks · 28/03/2018 21:38

Get a water pistol!

Itsthatotherone · 28/03/2018 21:41

Get a bucket of water.

Chuck it over her every time the dog pees outside your house

She’ll soon get the message

IWantMyHatBack · 28/03/2018 21:45

Contact the letting agent and check if the rental allows pets.

HumptyD93 · 28/03/2018 21:48

I didn't think the dog warden fines for dogs weeing.... the poo seems to be picked up (though there are every so often poos where the cctv doesn't pick up but obviously without seeing it we cant prove it's hers)

We cant put a fence up :(

May invest in a water pistol this summer.... or one for every member of the family so they can aim should it try weeing on anyone else's leg!!!

I'd perhaps look into the council, as mentioned above. I'm sure it would also come under antisocial behaviour too, so keep that, and every other bit of footage!

HumptyD93 · 28/03/2018 21:51

Its a private let... we knew the lady who owns and lived there before and mentioned it when she came up to visit but nothing changed. The owner is a friend of her mum... so she rents it pretty cheap (like half what everyone else pays in rent up the road) so unlikely to move anytime soon.

Namechangetempissue · 28/03/2018 21:58

Complain, complain, complain. Every single incident get on the phone to the agent/landlord. Be an enormous pest.
I would be very tempted to take stills from the CCTV and shame on the local facebook page if she persists in letting her dog shit everywhere. Dog poo leavers are hated! Tell her you will do it if she carries on. Openly take photos. Shovel up any poo and leave it on her doorstep.

oldmums · 28/03/2018 21:59

buy pepper dust to put on your doorstep, it will soon stop :)

afreshnewname · 28/03/2018 22:00

Is there any kind of cleaning solution that's a deterrent to pets? Maybe you could google that and see if there's anything you can wash your step down with

ElephantsYeah · 28/03/2018 22:02

RSPCA - it doesn't sound like she's looking after the dog properly. Dogs need regular walks... who knows, they might take the dog away? Maybe not, but they would tell her to walk the dog. Who knows, she might listen...

Also, agree with pp, you should contact the council, especially with the CCTV footage.

Eveforever · 28/03/2018 22:05

I agree with contacting the landlord on a regular basis. Do you rent yourself, why can't you put up a fence? Would this be considered antisocial behaviour by the council? And yes, contact the RSPCA if you think she's neglecting the dog.

AnnieAnoniMouser · 28/03/2018 22:06

Get your kids to pee on her doorstep. Kids do love an alfresco pee.

I guess ask the council who to complain to?

HumptyD93 · 28/03/2018 22:06

Our problem with any deterrent is we have a cat and a dog so pepper on the doorstep won't work without getting on their paws too.

Years ago we had a cat who would poo outside our house (we don't have the best luck with pets toileting!!!) anyway it was really unwell and left pools of runny poo all over. We tried everything and nothing worked for their cat but our cat refused to come up the road I had to carry her up the road and into the house!!! We didn't miss it when they moved house!!!

I may start collecting stills and a log of it and go down the anti social/council route. Though council are very unhelpful too as we are an unadopted road.

Buy a wooden post and put it in the corner of your property, then hopefully he'll pee up that. You might have to bai't it with some of his pee.

AnnieAnoniMouser · 28/03/2018 22:08

The RSPCA are not going to get involved where the only issue is a dog not being walked. If it’s fed, has shelter and isn’t obviously being hurt there’s nothing they can do.

AvocadosBeforeMortgages · 28/03/2018 22:08

In answer to your question, because she's a lazy fucker.

Unlike pooing, it's entirely legal for dogs to wee in the street etc. I'd concentrate on the pooing as if you can get the dog on a lead for that, you'll solve the wee location problem at the same time.

The RSPCA won't do anything - even when dogs are clearly being mistreated it's notoriously hard to get them to do anything. Walkies being a bit on the short side isn't anywhere near a neglect case. The council / dog warden, however, should be informed of the dog fouling problem; send the CCTV to them and hopefully they will fine her.

(As a dog owner, I hate this sort of shit ownership)

HumptyD93 · 28/03/2018 22:13

RE fence... we would literally be fencing off the path the length of our house, but everyone else up the road has right of way along the path so it would be awkward (not impossible I guess but it wouldn't be space enough for the children to play in, and its weeing on their legs when they play out.

RSPCA.... They have been next to useless in the past. We had a renter neglecting her cat (out all day in all weathers, worms around the bum, covered in fleas, skinny) and they did nothing. They also did nothing when the owner moved and left it behind. Nor did they do anything when it had kittens. Nor the 2nd lot of kittens (by this time it was pretty feral and didn't want anything to do with anyone, but neighbours clubbed together to get it neutered and kittens rehomed before they became feral too)

UpstartCrow · 28/03/2018 22:16

Put a post in and see if he uses it. He's marking the boundary of his territory.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 28/03/2018 22:23

All dogs should be kept on a lead, in a public place, speak to the dog warden. Please don't punish the dog, it's the owner who needs reprimanding. Throw the poo straight back onto her path.

Eveforever · 28/03/2018 22:29

I was just looking up dog wardens, that's another good possibility. I would look at the antisocial behaviour route too though, you've not mentioned trying that.

HumptyD93 · 28/03/2018 22:29

Haha I think I would quite enjoy squirting her with a water pistol when her dog wees all over. ..wonder if she'd get the message.

Poos aren't a problem...since the first day we haven't caught anything on cctv (we gaveher the benefit of doubt and didn't report as didn't want to start on the wrong foot and moving is hectic thought she may have just lost sight of dog ). There have been a few poos out of cctv sight which could be her dogs or it could be a large cat...so no proof.

OP posts:
HumptyD93 · 28/03/2018 22:31

I'll start keeping a log and stills from cctv in case we decide to go down anti social route. Think they'd need evidence for anything to happen

OP posts:
LadyDeadpool · 28/03/2018 22:57

Even if she walks the dog its still going to pee in the garden, it's scent marking for one thing and everyone boots the dog outside last thing at night for a pee.
Sorry but its not anti social behaviour any more than a cat peeing on your property would be and it's a little hysterical to suggest it is. Except obviously in the case of it peeing on your washing and your sons leg which is rude.
